Wearing Christmas dress to a birthday party.

This is probably going to sound really ridiculous but DD (4) has her friends birthday party later on. She’s desperate to wear her new sparkly red Christmas dress that we picked up this morning In Sainsburys with the intention to save it for the school Christmas disco... But will I annoy the parents or the child?

I hear people with birthdays in December get annoyed by their birthdays being forgotten about because of Christmas...

I can't imagine that anyone would mind - she's four - let her wear her sparkly dress, she'll have grown out of it by next Christmas so you might as well let her wear it as much as possible Smile

Is it just a red dress or does it have a Christmas design (covered in reindeers for example)?

If the former i think it's fine, not so sure about the latter though.

My daughter has anear christmas birthday and when she had parties her girl guests used to come to the party in dressy up dresses and if she went to any at that time i used to let her wear her party dresses, so i would let her wear it dosent matter at that age if she wears the same dress twice, maybe do her hair different with a different hair ribbon and different socks and shoes for the school disco

No one cares what kids wear to parties. They usually all turn up in their favourite outfits which could be anything from jeans and T-shirt’s to a costume from the dressing up box. Let her wear what makes her happy.

My daughter’s party was yesterday and she would have loved anyone turning up in anything sparkly or christmassy. As the parent I’d have loved it too. I just can’t imagine anyone being annoyed by this.

Oh definitely let her wear it. I used to love seeing what my DDs little friends wore to parties. They are so cute at that age.

You aren't forgetting her birthday, your daughter is going there too help celebrate it, and presumably has a birthday gift for her.

As long as you don't make the gift a combined gift for Christmas too, you are fine. Let her wear the dress :)

Definitely fine, its December. Get as much wear out of it as possible and let her have fun!

I'm off to a kids party in a Christmas jumper today. Our whole house are Christmas babies and all (except DH) love a Christmas jumper/dress/Tshirt being worn. Tis the season and all that 😊

I've got the same problem. Dd is 4 on Thursday her party is on Saturday. She also wants to wear her new sparkly dress that we bought for Christmas parties.
I'm happy for her to wear it.

Aww I don't think anyone would mind a sparkly dress at a birthday party, I know neither my 9 or 4 year old would, they'd just love the sparkles
