To wish people would give the twee insults a rest?

It just feels like some people are still spitting their tea out over the first 'cockwomble' 500 million years ago. So often someone will post something genuinely nasty or upsetting that they're dealing with, and in among the thoughtful responses you'll see 'Yanbu, he's a cuntwibble/arsewagon/tit-carrot [insert one syllable swear word followed by arbitrary two syllable noun]. No other contribution, they just wanted to get that in there in the hope of a 'PMSL, User12345567 won the internet today!!!!!! GrinGrinGrin'

It's OLD.

Tell me I'm not the only one who cringes when this happens?

And anticipating the 'You're not the MN police' brigade.... I'm not saying people have to stop doing it. Just that I wish they would Smile

Giggorata hmm, interesting thought.

Shearwater Don't think we'd be left with just words for female genitalia. Loads of people have given good examples, but off the top of my head:

Shit,
Dick(head),
Prick,
Wanker,
Arse(hole),
Knob,
Bellend,
Bastard,
Ballsack,
Tosser,
Wankstain,
Boris Johnson,
Fucker,
Shitstain

We quite like 'fudgebungle' as a non sweary insult.

Notso · 30/11/2019 12:57

While I do tire of anachronistic swearwords, I am also sick to death of people falling over themselves to say cunt, it's equally cringeworthy.

NotACleverName · 30/11/2019 13:05

People who use these twee-as-fuck swear words like to think that they're better than those who say "holibobs" or "famalam" (or whatever). In reality, they're two cheeks of the same arse.

Just call someone a cunt or a prick and have done with it.

MistyCloud · 30/11/2019 13:19

@Giggorata

I agree. THUNDERCUNT is an awesome insult! Grin

I first heard it in the film 2015 SPY ... Grin

JasminaPashmina · 30/11/2019 13:22

I hate it too.

The word 'fucking cunt' is always sufficient.

multiplemum3 · 30/11/2019 13:35

I hate the poems. I've never even smiled at them, I must have the deadest look on my face reading them. Oh and the fucking awful texts I've seen people compose on the posters behalf, no one talks like that in real life lol.

CupCupGoose · 30/11/2019 13:35

YANBU I thought I was the only one who thought all these 'cool' insults were cringey.

Givemestrengthorgin · 30/11/2019 13:41

My bug bear is when posters tell other posters "ooh do kindly fuck off dear" as I saw on a post yesterday. What does that even mean? Just "fuck off" or even "I disagree" would do.

StarClaws · 30/11/2019 13:44

This is only vaguely related but I swear the current trendy mumsnet phrase is "give your head a wobble".

Elphame · 30/11/2019 13:48

Ah shitgibbons!

And even a learned article on them

HowToBeAWoman · 30/11/2019 13:50

I have been using ‘dickhead’ for 30 years or so and I find it THE most satisfying word to shout at dickhead drivers. It’s one of life’s little pleasures to shout ‘Fucking indicate if you’re going to turn left, you DICKHEAD!’

Cuntweasel etc just won’t cut it.

SouthernComforts · 30/11/2019 13:53

An angry teenager called me a 'fucking sewer rat' last year, which I thought was quite a good insult. I've been waiting to use it, but nobody has annoyed me as much as I annoyed him (by walking past him) yet.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 30/11/2019 14:10

"In reality, they're two cheeks of the same arse." I love this thread just for this.

A Mner used for example the other day, I've not seen that on MN for yonks is that twee enough. We don't see enough of that. Boris Johnson, for example.

PS I never realised twunt was a portmanteau of twat and cunt until someone explained it to me here months ago. I thought it was like "twit" - a non sweary thing similar to gosh and darn. I cringe now to think how many conversations I used it in before I realised. With my boss, DC's teachers, my mum (who wouldn't know either to be fair Grin)

I'm a pube doorbell, obviously.

Footiefan2019 · 30/11/2019 14:13

People who describe themselves as quirky use these words.

It’s vomit worthy and completely he opposite of quirky, as all these people act exactly the same .

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 30/11/2019 14:14

DH calls our cat "Knobbolino" (like Gobbolino the Witch's cat) which I quite like.

She is a bit of a knob, to be fair.

VisionQuest · 30/11/2019 14:15

I love this and yes it fucking irritates me too.

I also saw 'cocknostril' on another thread whilst simultaneously rolling my eyes.
FOTTFSOFAFOSM - makes me RAGE. Especially when someone has gone to the trouble of writing the whole thing out.

I do like knob cheese though. Think I'll start using that more often.

Tonkerbea · 30/11/2019 14:22

I'm fond of using wee gobshite, as long as it's said in the style of LODs Hastings.

merryhouse · 30/11/2019 15:03

A Mner used for example the other day,

Is that noteworthy?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 30/11/2019 16:27

@merryhouse - I thought so, I've not seen it on here for ages!

Maybe I should have given the background for anyone who doesn't know the significance, that might have helped BlushGrin I can't remember how it came about (does anyone else remember?) but it's MN shorthand for is a cunt. So..Boris Johnson, for example is a cunt.

You don't see it here so much these days. It made me feel all nostalgic.

It was [name of git], for example= name is a cunt.

Donald Trump, for example.

I think it originated in a particular post.

beautifulstranger101 · 30/11/2019 16:52

Personally I think "belled" gets the job done! But i kinda like hearing new insults- the old ones are getting old and tired now, its nice to hear new ones!
