To wish people would give the twee insults a rest?

It just feels like some people are still spitting their tea out over the first 'cockwomble' 500 million years ago. So often someone will post something genuinely nasty or upsetting that they're dealing with, and in among the thoughtful responses you'll see 'Yanbu, he's a cuntwibble/arsewagon/tit-carrot [insert one syllable swear word followed by arbitrary two syllable noun]. No other contribution, they just wanted to get that in there in the hope of a 'PMSL, User12345567 won the internet today!!!!!! GrinGrinGrin'

It's OLD.

Tell me I'm not the only one who cringes when this happens?

And anticipating the 'You're not the MN police' brigade.... I'm not saying people have to stop doing it. Just that I wish they would Smile

Someone on another thread has come out with «ok, boomer». The most tedious pseudo-insult ever.

nevergotthehangofthursdays · 29/11/2019 21:34

Smeg plant pot

ILs have a Smeg fridge - will that do? GrinGrinGrin

I'd ban 'Oh my days' though. That just screams Bible belt housewife stereotype to me.

user764329056 · 29/11/2019 21:36

Hazeyjane ‘life is tough enough already’ you made my night!

fligglepige · 29/11/2019 21:39

I love this thread! I thought I was the only joyless bugger who hates those type of insults. It reminds me of Mark in Peep Show trying to think of an insult- 'watch out you jizz cock! You could've had my leg off you piss kidney!' when the guy replies with 'arsehole' he thinks 'of course, arsehole, clean, clear and insulting.' Arsehole is now my insult of choice, it just has it all Grin

BarkandCheese · 29/11/2019 21:41

Clunge-chimney

Piss-herring

Flap-spanner

Turd-tea towel

Fart-pineapple

This is fun...

3catsandcounting · 29/11/2019 21:42

I'm old, but the most common insulting phrase was 'complete prat' when I was young.
Made me cringe then, and now. 😕

shearwater · 29/11/2019 21:45

What insults would you say are acceptable? I find you are left with female genitalia, and I'm trying to avoid using those terms.

Cockwomble and wankbadger are perfectly reasonable words. People aren't being twee or trying to be amusing, they are just using language.

If you don't like it, you can bumbledick off to another thread.

BlueEyedFloozy · 29/11/2019 21:49

I use twunt in real life if I need to mind my language.

I'm a fan of plain old fuck, cunt, shit, bastard otherwise though!

shearwater · 29/11/2019 21:51

Oh the irony of moaning about twee language on a site that uses DH, DD etc because people cannot type husband, daughter etc.

Caaarrrl · 29/11/2019 21:53

I think I really like PP's wank lampshade as my new insult of choice.

Also a big fan of fuckface and fuckwit.

CustardySergeant · 29/11/2019 21:59

What a load of burbling gruntfuttocks you are!

Ponoka7 · 29/11/2019 21:59

I use Gobshite in RL and across SM. It sums some people up.

I to, would like to see the end, of the perfectly acceptable usage of words, being described as twee.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/11/2019 22:03

I agree. The people who do this are the same people who call their kids 'the smalls", wear one Disney and one Harry Potter sock, wear fleeces with dogs on and say 'I'm mad, me'.

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 29/11/2019 22:06

"Someone on another thread has come out with «ok, boomer». The most tedious pseudo-insult ever."

Ok boomer! Wink

Jodie77 · 29/11/2019 22:07

@3catsandcounting

I never use that phrase myself, impart from when describing a particular relative for whom there is no better description. Interestingly the complete prat uses the word prat frequently. I prefer to prefix it with a real swear so tend to describe this person as a "complete fucking Prat" when I use this term my other family members know who I am talking about. It's become synonymous with their actual given name.

Jodie77 · 29/11/2019 22:08

@SlightlyStaleCocoPops

Better than being a snowflake

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 29/11/2019 22:10

"Better than being a snowflake"

Now that is tedious.

MontanaSkies · 29/11/2019 22:11

Yanbu. Used by people who probably think they're being delightfully "whimsical".

MissLadyM · 29/11/2019 22:11

Stop being such a dick splash

DeRigueurMortis · 29/11/2019 22:12

No.

It's a complete sentence in the MN dimension, not so good in real life I find.

Thunderpunt · 29/11/2019 22:15

'Ok Boomer ' is the youf insult of the day. Keep having to remind my kids I'm Gen X when they use it on me - the pair of knobjockeys

Notsurehowtofixit · 29/11/2019 22:19

I love the creative insults. Reminds me of Shakespeare.

Jodie77 · 29/11/2019 22:21

@SlightlyStaleCocoPops

Oh yes, if anything can beat 'boomer' in the tedium stakes it is most definitely 'snowflake' they are both words I would happily never hear again.

puds11 · 29/11/2019 22:26

Cock lodger just conjure an image of a giant penis renting the granny annex over someone’s garage.

AllStarBySmashMouth · 29/11/2019 22:27

Stop being douchecanoes the lot of you.
