to wonder what the fuck this current obsession is with those black and white vans shoes?

I think they are vans. Are they the new converse or something?! Nearly every female in their teens 20s and even 30s seem to be wearing these hideous shoes. Why? Is it like the superdry bollocks?

I have these, the darker check.

I have them because I like them. I am 38 years old and I also have a glitter check pair.

Thehop · 29/11/2019 17:03

I think I love under a rock 😂

Andysbestadventure · 29/11/2019 17:04

Erm, I'm mid 30's and everyone has been wearing checked vans for at least 20yrs 😂

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 17:05

Everyone has moved onto dad trainers in my neck of the woods

aintnothinbutagstring · 29/11/2019 17:09

VSCO is usually meant as an insult, ie. 'basic', not sure why you'd admit to being one.

transformandriseup · 29/11/2019 17:12

I didn't know those were back.

JangledBat · 29/11/2019 17:14

I have three pairs of Vans hi tops. Flowery, bright pink, and glittery chequered. I love them and I'm 53 😀

getmeacupoftea · 29/11/2019 17:20

Yeah well I'm in my 20's and wear those Van's. I happen to think its hideous when women 20 years older than me wear walking shoes casually with jeans . Nothing looks more middle age than a puffy waistcoat, straight jeans and brown walking shoes.
Ugly, but they must be comfortable right? 😂

JustAnotherMNUserPassing · 29/11/2019 17:23

They're comfy and stylish! I think Birkenstocks are fugly but I don't make an entire thread about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

cochineal7 · 29/11/2019 17:23

My 7yo and half her class have been wearing them the past 2 years. They last quite well.

sprite25 · 29/11/2019 17:26

The same people who make these threads are the same ones who have the attitude of 'I'll do/wear/say/act in any way I want to and not care about other people's opinions' but think other people should care about their opinions 🙄 if you don't like the shoes, don't wear them... Other people can wear what they want

PositiveVibez · 29/11/2019 17:30

I like them. Tell you what I do hate though, them big massive fuck off trainers that girls with really skinny legs wear.

They look bloody ridiculous. Too heavy for their tiny matchstick legs.

I suppose I thought I look great in my yoof in the trends of the old days though.

FatimaLovesBread · 29/11/2019 17:33

I have 7 pairs. Love them and they're really comfy and wear well. A lot comfier than converse

lazyarse123 · 29/11/2019 17:34

Can I ask why some people say "ok boomer" is it an insult to be a certain age? I've seen it a few times.

switswoo81 · 29/11/2019 17:35

I love them because the design is unisex so I can buy the mens for my big wide feet and I look like other women!

I’m 47 and I’ve got two pairs of the ones you dislike so much OP and a plain black pair, they’re super comfy and go with everything! Skinny jeans, thick tights and short skirts etc.

I also have a Fjallraven Kanken rucksack and a Thermoflask too Blush

Evilmorty · 29/11/2019 18:53

These are very old shoes, they really aren’t a new thing at all

Evilmorty · 29/11/2019 18:53

Maybe two decades ago they there new

Afolnerd · 29/11/2019 19:01

I have 4 pairs of Vans and and I love them. I have plain black ones for work, then bright blue and black and white checked ones for everyday.
I’m 35, work in retail so I’m on my feet all day and they are comfortable. Most of my work either wear Vans, converse or the younger staff are normally in Nike Air Force Ones.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 29/11/2019 19:03

I have about 5 pairs.

Support worker, on feet a lot.

They're SO comfy.

Mrsjayy · 29/11/2019 19:05

My Dd is 26 she has been wearing them since she was a teen so these people you are seeing them have been wearing them since they were teenagers, They are just trainers/shoes.

Mrsjayy · 29/11/2019 19:06

My sister has a siimilar job she wears them too.

BettyIsABoy · 29/11/2019 19:09

Op wears flat black leather shoes.

Well I wouldn't be seen dead in those.

So same thing... People wear what they like!

1984isnow · 29/11/2019 19:11

I am about to cave and get some as there's not much else in the comfy pump department. It's either vans or converse style. I find them so clown foot like but choice is limited.

I'm looking for some all black ones, so atleast the sole isn't so in your face
