To think that Xmas outdoor lighting plugs should fit into exterior sockets?

We installed several external power sockets around our house and garden - mainly for electrical hedge trimmers Etc. but at this time of year we want to put lights up and every single set we own, plus all those in the shops have bulky or upside-down plugs that won’t fit in the weatherproof case of the sockets!
Is it beyond manufacturers of Xmas tree and outdoor lights to think “inside the (weatherproof) box” for outdoor lighting???

I’ve bought lights from Sainsbury’s this year and they fit in my outdoor covered sockets, I’ve also had lights from Costco and they fit in as well. No help if you’ve already bought though, sorry.
