Firstly, I know iabu to be so concerned by this...

I've just bought a door mat. It has a picture on it. Do I place it so the picture looks the right way up to guests as they enter the house, or so that it looks right to me as I'm stood in the house?

I know there are bigger issues etc etc but this is bugging me... if you have pictures of your door mats, that will help Grin

This made me laugh as I'm just off to buy a new door mat. Ours slides on the wooden floor.
I'm buying plain now haha.

Cauliflowerpower · 29/11/2019 12:27

I would do it so that the Guest would see it....

billandbenflowerpotmen1 · 29/11/2019 12:30

You place it so that people coming into the house see the picture the right way round

PixieDustt · 29/11/2019 12:30

I have mine so the guests can see it.
Thought this thread was going to be about something else

Fr0g · 29/11/2019 12:41

mine has paw prints on, so could go either way - I have it facing so that the paw prints are coming in, rather than going out.
Indoor cat anyway, so it doesn't really matter, but I think its friendlier.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 29/11/2019 12:42

Has to be the right way round for the postie, surely? Otherwise you'll get backwards mail.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 29/11/2019 12:47

Definitely towards the visitors or they’ll think you’re taking to yourself. This is my personal message to visitors. 😁

My son's say 'Welcome Mat'

So it has to be read as coming in.

(Also his name is Mat Grin)

SleepingIsOverrated · 29/11/2019 14:01

I had assumed it would go facing guests, so that's how I placed it before I posted but it just looks wrong!!! It's from the porch door into the house so I see it every single time I walk to the stairs and I just don't know if I can cope with it being upside down to me Hmm

So it's the first mat you cross on the way out of my house but the second mat you cross on the way in... does that make a difference?!

Feelsdeadpeople · 29/11/2019 14:06

No. Sorry Grin

SleepingIsOverrated · 29/11/2019 14:07

I have a feeling this mat won't last long. Wonder if my mum would like it for Christmas Smile

But yes visitors have it the right way.

Disfordarkchocolate · 29/11/2019 14:10

I couldn't cope with that @SleepingIsOverrated, you need something that looks good from both directions. My husbands says I am odd but I think this is normal.

SleepingIsOverrated · 29/11/2019 14:36

My husband has just walked in and the first thing he said is 'why is that mat upside down?' 😩😩

I've turned it to face guests... but I've also moved it into the porch so I don't have to see it from inside the house Grin

girlywhirly · 29/11/2019 15:41

My friends had a mat that said OH NO, NOT YOU AGAIN!

littlepaddypaws · 29/11/2019 15:45

'piss off' would be ideal an ideal mat for me, i'm antisocial Grin
