Sorry for putting this in the aibu section but I need some help.
I've applied for a hsbc Loan and it says they will contact me. Anyone know why this is? Will they require paperwork etc?
Previously they give a decision then and there . The application was made online?
Is there a chance if it being declined?
Thanks

They may require paperwork. They may need clarification or confirmation of what you've said. Of course there is a chance of it being declined, if you don't meet their criteria for loans. We can't tell you how likely that is, because we have no idea what your circumstances are. I've never had an immediate decision about anything financial online, and I assume that is because an actual person always has to review the decision.

@bridgetreilly previously for me and dh our hsbc loans were approved straight away. No paperwork or checks were required which is why I'm surprised.
Hoping it's not declined.
Thanks though

It's likely been referred to underwriting. They might request proof of your income or ID documents. Possibly they want to ask additional questions about affordability.

Try not to worry about it too much. There's loads of reasons for this.

Anyone else had a similar experience? What was the outcome ?
