I'm taking antibiotics for an infection and the side effects are awful. Not bad enough to stop taking it, but totally wiping me out, I'm so exhausted I can't stand for too long without feeling shaky and weak. Also have bad stomach issues.
For the antibiotic I'm on, the dose for children up to 40kg in weight is 250mg, but I'm 41kg (I'm short and underweight) and taking 500mg.
Whenever I take antibiotics I always react awfully, they totally flatten me and I have to take anti-sickness tablets with them. I do always take the dose I'm prescribed but spend the whole time in misery wondering if it's unnecessary and a smaller dose would work fine and have fewer side effects. Is there a physiological reason adult doses aren't done by weight?
