To tell you why I really love my job

Smug post but it is low paid!
I love my new-ish job for many many reasons but I've only just realised the best one today. I'm an extrovert so I always assumed that I'd love working with others, as a team. This is my first job in a private office where I control my own workload and so long as I finish things before the deadline I'm mostly left to my own devices.
I am also part of a team and can check in with them if I need to. I can also go and sit in the lounge if I want to at lunch. However I have the freedom to leave when the convo gets boring and I need some air. Choose my own radio station, have the late lunch slot every day if I want, drink tea loudly and not have to debate constantly whether to bother making everyone else in the team one!
Also this never happens:
Me: right, I'm off
Colleague: You're off are you?
Me: yeah
Colleague: what you up to tonight?
Me: nothing really, telly, bed (feels boring)
Colleague: yeah me too
Me: see you then
Colleague: see you
Five minutes pass
Me: sorry I forgot my scarf
Colleague: yeah it's cold out
Me: bye then
Colleague: bye, see you tomorrow

Gahhh used to drive me mad! Now I can just go! Into the dark, music on, home to talk to people I really respect (cats and toddlers)

It sounds like you've just minimised human interaction, and now you can just about your day unhindered by others 😂

I don't get what was wrong with that conversation? A colleague spoke to you?

I love my job because it’s full of people. People are interesting!

I love my job because I can do it from home, on my own, sucking my thumb, with my cat on my lap.

I dislike people too, so I feel I would also appreciate your job!

Are you sure you're an extrovert OP

@dontgobaconmyheart I am but I value real conversation not the sort of shallow chit chat you have to have with colleagues. I just really appreciate the silence after making small talk at the school gates and then with my children and dp. It's nice to just have eight hours of silence!
