To get some Botox because I need a lift and not tell DH?

Tough 12 months.
3 failed rounds of IVF.
Constant abuse and bullying from DSS's mum.
Was headhunted for a new role, 30k lift in pay but dear god I'm working for it.
I train 5/6 days per week and commute 2 hrs a day.
I'm late 30's.
Have a Botox appointment at the weekend. Sick of looking shattered.
I've had it before - but stopped during the IVF and never told DH. He is mad against it.
AIBU to say stuff it and get it done as a pre Christmas pick me up?!
HELP

I had my first botox a month ago and didn't tell anyone for the same reasons - just can't be bothered with defending my decision. No-one has noticed at all and I definitely look better.

Also mine is on my frown lines and now I can't frown properly I actually feel happier. Like my face isn't reinforcing neagtive thoughts all the time. Am an immediate convert!

Yesmate · 27/11/2019 23:11

Same @sparklewater I live mine and it is done well enough that I just look better. I don’t look frozen but I feel happier.
I have no interest in explaining my decision to anyone so I just didn’t tell anyone. Same when I had my non surgical nose job!

TryingToBeBold · 27/11/2019 23:14

Go for it! So many people are against fillers for the same reason but they can honestly enhance you so much with people only.. thinking there is something slightly different about you. Meanwhile you are miles more confident!

He won't notice. Tell him it's a facial appointment. Grin

TryingToBeBold · 27/11/2019 23:15

@Yesmate love a cheeky non surgical adjustment. Grin

Yesmate · 27/11/2019 23:54

@tryingtobebold It’s like art!! Amazing!!

HelloAgainYou · 27/11/2019 23:58

Look after yourself first. Do it. Your husband just doesn't understand. It's like any other beauty treatment. Be your own friend first.

areallady · 28/11/2019 00:09

I rarely post but
Yes do it - I had Botox 2 years ago - didn’t tell a soul - had a little bit of filler too - everyone thought I looked “refreshed”
Told DH a year later - he was great - whatever makes you happy
I’ve had Botox updates and a bit more filler - and my lips done but they are so subtle
My advice - find great person and go for it - it has made a massive difference to me - it’s very subtle but if I look on pics 2 years ago I look much better now Smile

Pandora73 · 28/11/2019 00:15

Bloody go and get it done !! I plan to after Christmas. If I could afford to I’d do it before !! I’d be telling him I’m having it done as it makes me happy, while he does his hobby which makes him happy !

areallady · 28/11/2019 00:18

One caveat though - once you’ve had it done - you will always want it doing so it’s not cheap maintenance

DuchessofWoke · 28/11/2019 00:21

I had Botox last week. Spent months building up to it, researching doctors etc.

It was such a quick, minor procedure. I was amazed by how painless it was. I didn’t have any redness at all afterwards and just carried on with my day. The next day I developed a very small bruise at the side of my eye - just a dot, easily covered. It’s great! I had a very subtle job, still fully mobile but less frowny and crinkly. I don’t know who those Towie types go to for their ironed foreheads but I do not look like that.

I didn’t tell anyone. Nobody has asked. DH would be fine with it but I just didn’t want to discuss it or have him analysing the results.

Go for it OP. The good aesthetic doctors are hard to get bookings with (made my November apt back in August) so take it and enjoy.

SuperMumTum · 28/11/2019 00:55

Do it if it makes you feel better but I would echo a PP to say think about self care in other ways too - exercise, meditation, long walls, a massage. Botox won't heal your stress.

managedmis · 28/11/2019 00:59

Tell him you're having a facial.

Can you wear a hat when you pick him up? If you've got red marks on your head etc.

QuiteForgetful · 28/11/2019 01:10

You are not bu to have it done, not at all, but isn't it best to be upfront and honest, and not lie to your husband? You are a free woman after all. To bad he found out though, I am not against not mentioning a beauty treatment, just the dishonesty to a spouse.

TryingToBeBold · 28/11/2019 09:02

@Yesmate it's so unnoticeable.. and yet different to others! I went to a great clinic in London who are expanding massively.
Fillers for me, Jaw line, Cheek Bone, Chin and Midface Filler. It made such a difference to me personally. A shame it doesn't last forever Sad

Helpordont · 28/11/2019 10:53

It's been done ! No redness 😍 Amazing dr - very happy so now I wait !

Emeraldshamrock · 28/11/2019 10:59

Any redness will fade in an hour. It is usually just small piercing, stick some foundation over it. Grin

myusernamewastakenbyme · 28/11/2019 11:12

Can i ask how much it costs roughly...im 45 and feel like i could do with a boost.

Helpordont · 28/11/2019 11:30

@myusernamewastakenbyme - 280.
It won't erase wrinkles, but over time will soften them! Highly recommend it

Evilspiritgin · 28/11/2019 11:39

Nobody notices Botox until it goes wrong, you can do what you want with your own body I agree but I don’t agree with lying about it

sparklewater · 28/11/2019 11:53

@myusernamewastakenbyme

Price varies massively according to clinic and how much botox they actually use. Mine was £99 (Bucks) but I only had one area done, I think most people get two or three.

Just check out reviews. I preferred to go with a Dr than a beautician so it was quite clinical but that's fine by me!

Evilspiritgin · 28/11/2019 12:08

It’s tested on animals, that alone would put me off I don’t want any animals killed or hurt for my vanity Envy

charm8ed · 28/11/2019 12:20

I’ve had Botox and fillers and never mentioned it to my husband. My face, my money, my choice.
Botox hardly shows, it just makes you look a bit fresher and if it makes you feel better why not.
Choose someone good, ideally a dermatologist at a hospital.

Rock4please · 28/11/2019 12:33

I am thinking of this and trying to build up courage. I would be very grateful for any recommendations in London.

Yesmate · 28/11/2019 12:36

Good for you OP! Enjoy your fresh face 😄

Mixingitall · 28/11/2019 12:41

Go forth!

I work too much, have 2 boys and look so tired without.

I don’t look like Katie Price as I don’t over do it, I just look fresh and less tired.

When I initially told my husband I’d had it done (note after it had settled) he was truly surprised and thought I looked great. He did have the plastic misconception. Fiona Bruce and all the main newsreaders must have it and no one ever says they look odd.

A natural look is great.
