@StylishMummy, you have been given the ability to think rationally and make judgements. This is partly why you don't bite the heads off chickens. Because you're not an animal completely governed by instinct, perhaps you could find your humanity and consider whether being in favour of young unprotected animals being torn to pieces by a pack of dogs is a something you truly wish to support.

Ticklemeelmo · 27/11/2019 15:48

I follow a lot of sab groups on fb and the majority of hunts are still blatantly fox hunting.

Same. Hunts also routinely verbally and physically assault sabs and damage their cars and equipment and are rarely charged.

Many senior police, MPs and judges participate in this vile 'sport', and it's fair to say that there is corruption involved which allows it to continue despite being banned.

The only way to rectify this is by introducing a total ban on hunting foxes with dogs, including drag hunting, which is clearly a farce.

LakieLady · 27/11/2019 15:51

Then how are hounds being struck by cars on A roads and private railway lines? The hunt leader's are not providing reasonable care for the safety on animals in their care. The hunts are supposed to be following a marked scent. Either the hunt is acting illegally and not following the legal allowed hunting action OR they deliberately place a scent trail into dangerous locations.

Does the requirement to keep dogs under control in public places apply to hounds, I wonder?

Halestorm · 27/11/2019 16:05

Using a large pack of humans, horses and dogs to kill a single fox every weekend?

Yeah, that will really sort out the vermin population Hmm

adaline · 27/11/2019 16:06

They should be if they're not already - after all, the dogs were a danger to traffic and other people and could have easily caused a fatality.

Theendofmyrope · 27/11/2019 16:10

Trail hunting is a complete myth. Any hunt that claims to be using fox urine is talking shite because this can only be imported into the UK under license. Hunts use this as a loop hole so when hounds do get onto a scent and kill they just shout 'accident'. It is pretty much business as usual with these people breaking the law week in, week out all over the country. They are a fucking nightmare and cause bloody havoc wherever they go. They dont give a shit about anyone else or the impact their weekly rampages have on communities. I fucking loath them and feel utterly ashamed I used to be one of them.

Ferretyone · 27/11/2019 16:22

@billysboy

On the face of it a light sentence but I think they also had to pay costs.

The important thing is that they do now have criminal records. For many people this would be devastating as it would mean losing job and so on. It should serve ["should"] as a warning to other hunts [rhyming slang there] as to conduct elsewhere

LochJessMonster · 27/11/2019 18:14

@Theendofmyrope AMEN!
Most hunts don’t even try and make the effort to pretend they are trail hunting anymore as they know they can get away with it. It truly sickens me that in this day and age, fox hunting is even a thing. It’s barbaric.

Nice response from the new MP

This is the response of the Conservative candidate for Buckingham, Greg Smith, to the CA recommended questions.

If anyone has responses from other candidates in the hunt area please share them!

Thank you for writing to me.

I am a member of the Countryside Alliance - and have been for some years.

I agree that previous Parliaments have not given the countryside the attention it deserves.

Let me be as clear as I possibly can be, if I am elected as your MP on 12th December, I will always to everything I can to protect our countryside and the rural way of life.

I was very happy to fully sign up to all of the Countryside Alliance’s pledges as soon as they were announced a couple of weeks ago and have informed the Countryside Alliance directly of my support.

With regard to your particular request that I commit to supporting hunting, shooting and fishing; oppose any further restrictions; and take an evidence-based approach to any amendments to legislation affecting these activities - the answer is an absolute yes from me. Of those, my particular interest is shooting, as I shoot myself, but absolutely support all three.

Once again, thank you for writing and if there is anything I can ever do to help, please do get in touch.

Please do vote for me on 12th December as someone who will always champion the countryside and our rural way of life.

Kind regards

Greg

The hounds are adored and live a very happy life doing entirely what they were bred for.

Being kept in filthy, overcrowded and dilapidated kennels where disease necessitating euthanasia was allowed to spread suggests otherwise:

ForalltheSaints · 30/11/2019 11:17

I would include a ban on keeping animals as a part of any sentence.

Haphazardhacker · 02/12/2019 07:01

I have been to their kennels and they are extremely clean and modern with plenty of room for hounds so not sure what the times is on about.

GCAcademic · 02/12/2019 07:09

You're not sure what the Times is on about? Perhaps you should read the article then. You'll have seen their new kennels, presumably, the ones they were forced to build after having to have 100 diseased dogs put down due to the spread of TB in filthy overcrowded kennels. They should have been banned from keeping dogs, but we know the law doesn't apply to the hunting community.
