My DH has just been hoovering the sofa and found... some parts of a game we haven't played for 2 years, the TV remote we lost a year ago AND a phone which disappeared the previous Feb! I also have a highly convincing answer to my question: "Where on earth do all my pens disappear to?" How embarrassing!!

Your dh needs telling off for waiting 2 years to vacuum-under the sofa.

I cleaned out my car a few months ago and found an envelope with £60 in it from a client. It was dated six months before. Happy days.

Mind you, I took it to get cleaned as I couldn’t figure out where the bad smell had been coming from for the last fortnight. The boss of the cleaning company handed me a petrified dog poo. It has rolled under the driver seat.

i lost an airpod... disaster. now, backstory we moved into a house.. a probate sale, in the summer. the vendor (deceased's son) kindly offered us the sofas as they are decent enough and we've got a toddler and one more on the way so don't particularly want to buy anything new until the wiping their noses on whatever is closest years are over. anyway, i lost an airpod, it had been gone for a good couple of weeks and i was bereft. this sofa does have a habit of swallowing things. so i started rooting around down there. fingers closed around something small and plastic, rejoice!!! i pulled it out and......... it was the in-ear hearing aid of a long dead elderly lady 😷😷😷

I found an egg in a coat pocket in the car. I'd collected it from the chicken run then popped it in my pocket and forgotten about it. Didn't wear the coat for months. The car stunk but I couldn't work out why....

I moved a chest of drawers in my DD’s room and found a dried up, dead goldfish stuck to the back. We had goldfish - about 8 years ago, I remember one going missing but blamed the cat

If you have sky Q box clicking the central button beeps the remote control, total lifesaver in our house grin

Now that would be a useful function if we had it (it was the main thing I used my apple watch for when I wore it too)

We had a smell and were unable to find the source. I moved the TV and stand one day, not an easy job and found a dried shrew which I thought I had encouraged outside after being presented with it as a gift, it was alive at the time it was brought in but probably injured and instead of going through the door as I thought, it had turned right and gone under the stand.

Cat treats down sofas get greasy after a while and feel revolting when you don't expect to find them.

I know, Simkin.

The pens were all from companies I've never used and places I've never been to, so my handbag has form for, er, collecting. I don't even have small children to blame.

But a spy torch! Did someone drop it in as we passed in the street?

One day I will be asked by police to turn that handbag out. You'll see me marched off in irons.

We had a smell in our hall once when I was a child. It was months until one day my mum lifted up one of the carpet tiles and found a mouse flatter than flat Stanley underneath. She used the fish slice to remove it. She's long since lost her sense of smell so she's screwed now

I traced a rank smell to the cardboard box I use to store the food when I defrost the freezer, and found a packet of fish fingers. This was 3 months after I last defrosted the freezer.

Mostly dog hair in mine. Usually enough to knit a jumper or a new dog

Plug is from a fishing game. Did have a plastic poo attached.
Been reliably informed by ds 15 that ds 5 used it as an eye blacking device yesterday, missed the intended eye and vanished into Behind The TV Territory..

Must be the day for it! (Only found 30c (Aus) and a crapload of dog hair.)

Btw, Friday is the last day of school before our summer holidays and then you may never see me again as I have to help clean out 13 year old filthy pig twins rooms. Bleurgh!!!

I have a friend who breeds miniature wire-haired dachshunds. They are very small. The puppies are tiny.

She finds puppy shit every time she moves her sofa. And her house stinks!

Lost a dkitten under a friend's recliner once. Had to dismantle it. She was mortified.
Nearly a whole basket of food under it!!

Dkitten was fine.

The last time we pulled out sofa out to clean underneath we found a metal crown. No one ion the family has one or has lost a tooth.
