To ditch baby monitor?

Camera baby monitor has broken (something with the wiring, it randomly turns off in the night and starts beeping, so I have to fiddle around with the wire to get it working again).

Do I buy a new one, or just stop using one? Baby is 9 months and in bedroom next door to me, so I can hear if she cries anyway, but I had one with eldest daughter until she was 3 so not sure if it feels a bit wrong getting rid of it so soon this time?!

We’re in a similar situation, DS is 10 months and I trod on the video monitor a few weeks ago. Keep saying I should buy a new one but haven’t yet, and there doesn’t seem like much point now!

We'd ditched ours by a similar time but with our first dc we lived in a tiny house so wasn't really required and the with subsequent dc we'd ditched the neuroticisms of needing a monitor Grin
My best friend has school age children and still insists on carrying it from room to room with her when I go round. It's mad! She lives in a fairly regular mid century house with cardboard-thin stud walls. Bonkers, but it makes her feel better so 🤷🏽‍♀️

I still use a video monitor at 17 months but we're in a townhouse so ds is a floor up from our room or 2 floor sup if we're downstairs.
