Labour because I have an excellent local MP.

Also now their manifesto is out I agree with most of it.

And to get the Tories our hopefully (although clearly my vote wouldn’t get them out as a labour are already in in my area! It would stop them getting more sears iyswim)

fedup21 · 26/11/2019 18:52

I find it odd that people won’t vote for labour due to anti-semitism, but will vote for the conservatives despite islamophobia, sexism and homophobia being regularly expressed by Johnson.

I know-it’s bizarre.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 26/11/2019 19:01

Labour.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 26/11/2019 19:05

I still can't understand why people think the Tories are good for the economy.

I think the idea that rich posh people are much cleverer than the average folk and are the better people to control the coffers is deeply engrained on people. It has been this way for centuries. People still used the term “the great unwashed” to describe Corbyn supporters.

dadshere · 26/11/2019 19:07

Love how so many people on here suddenly become economics experts and feel qualified to judge the feasiblity of Labour budgets worth hundreds of billions of pounds.
Don't be shy, don't make excuses, say it loud, say it proud. "I am a selfish, egotistical moron with a deep distrust of immigrants and particularly muslims, therefore I will be voting tory, like my parents and their parents"

Spamantha · 26/11/2019 19:08

Labour. I think the country has taken a downwards turn over the last decade of Tory governments and Brexit risks destroying the economy.

How people can think the pro-Brexit Torries are a safe pair of hands when it comes to the economy is beyond me.

Don't really like Corbyn FWIW but it's either Labour or Tory where in my constituency.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 26/11/2019 19:10

I'm spoiling my ballot, although it wouldn't make the slightest difference because I'm in one of the safest Labour seats in the country.

I'll have to take issue with this:
So islamophobia, sexism and homophobia must be acceptable to those voters otherwise they also wouldn’t vote for conservatives
You can substitute Jew-hatred for Islamophobia and it'd be correct for Labour tbh. None of it is acceptable. Any vote for either of the 2 main parties is a vote for these though.

reginafelangee · 26/11/2019 19:12

I will be voting Tory for the first time

I) Corbyn is dangerous
2) I don't want a second indyref
3) I want brexit over and done with.

I'm a lifelong Labour voter (and previous member) who voted remain and No.

dadshere · 26/11/2019 19:15

Even funnier are the 'lifelong labour voters' who will suddenly be voting tory. Yep, you have always had one set of beliefs, but are suddenly going to throw them all out of the window. Menopause? You don't convince anyone. Tories HATE women, they always have.

whyismysoullost · 26/11/2019 19:16

Child poverty is going to get worse under the tory government.

Universal Credit is a shambles.

I used to work as a teaching assistant for many years and myself and the teacher will outsource materials (from our own pocket !!) for the children. It was bad. Never again. More funding needs to go to education.

I care about the NHS.

University students do not get grants anymore. Everything is a loan- the Tory government did that.

Nursing students or health care students do not receive bursaries anymore. They now have to take loans too.

Boris Johnson.... no more said. Hmm

The whole remain.. brexit thing was ridiculous. Why bring that forward in the first place. Do we know what even going to happen anyway ? It was a RIDICULOUS suggestion.

I vote every year and I was considering not voting or spoiling my ballot as I didn't think any party was worth voting for. But I want the Torres out !!! So I'll be voting labour Smile

calamityjam · 26/11/2019 19:16

If you're not sure about who to vote for;
Consider the people who you trust most;
You trust teachers with your precious children,
You trust doctors and nurses with your actual lives.
You trust the emergency services with your safety and security.
They are all telling you that if you care about these things vote LABOUR

LemonMousse · 26/11/2019 19:18

Labour.
Because my current Labour MP is great and deserves our support. She truly does work hard for our local community - she's always out and about and very approachable.
I have no qualms about Corbyn either - I think he'll be a quiet force to be reckoned with.

M0reGinPlease · 26/11/2019 19:24

Labour. Tactical vote to stop the Tories. I'm sad about it, but it's the only way. I also don't agree with all of Labours policies but another Tory government will cripple this country. We're already on our knees.

Actionhasmagic · 26/11/2019 19:35

LABOUR

Actionhasmagic · 26/11/2019 19:35

Because can’t stand Boris Johnson

thecatsthecats · 26/11/2019 19:36

@calamityjam

I don't think that's particularly persuasive. The nurse I know who's spamming my feed with Labour links doesn't have the strongest critical evaluation skills. To her "Labour says good things = Labour best people to manage NHS".

And my sister, a teacher, is equally vociferous. When I tried to educate her about Lib Dem ACTUAL policies, she told me I "must be wrong" because "she'd have heard if they were better than Labour's".

Whatsername7 · 26/11/2019 19:36

Labour. Its a tactical vote to try and unseat the Tories. As a teacher, I couldn't vote for a government that has cut essential services for schools as well as hugely cutting funding. More and more of our kids are struggling with mental health and there is no help available. As of a week ago, we no longer have a school nurse service. We only had her for one day per week as it was. More kids families are using food banks than ever before. Yet, on the surface, I teach in a very middle class area and our GCSE results put us in the top 5% of the country. The school seems to be doing well, but we are struggling to keep afloat.

TalullahDingleberry · 26/11/2019 19:40

Lib Dems probably.

I cannot grasp why anyone would vote conservative at this time. I honestly think people who do are lacking some level of humanity. Ignorance is no excuse. People are starving and dying.

aceyace · 26/11/2019 19:42

Labour, would never in a million years vote for a Tory government that favoured the rich rev tax evasion and cut services to disabled and lower income brackets, disgusting bunch of self serving *ankers

HelloForNow · 26/11/2019 19:44

Green, because I live in Brighton and we have the amazing Caroline Lucas who is a sure seat here. Otherwise I would always vote Labour and always have done when I lived elsewhere. I’m in the top 5% too, being a professional. But I would much rather the richest pay a little more tax and the whole population benefits from improved services. I can’t stand to watch more people become impoverished and homeless.

I implore people not to vote Tory. Boris and his right wing cabinet with a 5 year term will be devastating for this country. It will be damaging for worker’s rights, environmental protections, food legislation, the nhs and even some of our human rights if they get
a majority. Please don’t let this happen.

Justanotherlurker · 26/11/2019 19:50

Love how so many people on here suddenly become economics experts and feel qualified to judge the feasiblity of Labour budgets worth hundreds of billions of pounds.

After the previous 3 years where talk has been dominated by economic discussion and talk of GDP etc etc, I find it ironic that people still try and white wash any criticism of the feasibility of the 'fully costed' labour manifesto as just being the tired meme of being rich etc etc.

Strugglingmum73 · 26/11/2019 19:51

Labour although I’m puzzled. Almost everyone I know will vote labour and this thread seems to show a labour majority but I’m pretty sure Conservatives will win.

Nonnymum · 26/11/2019 19:53

Labour because I can't bear the thought of a Boris Johnson majority. It will ruin the UK

Frequency · 26/11/2019 19:59

Labour although I’m puzzled. Almost everyone I know will vote labour and this thread seems to show a labour majority but I’m pretty sure Conservatives will win

MN is generally left-leaning and everyone you know would probably be explained by confirmation bias. You tend to associate with people with similar backgrounds by default and people with similar backgrounds will have similar political beliefs.

I think it will be another hung parliament. The Tories have spent the last decade systematically destroying the economy and public services, and Corbyn doesn't garner enough trust. Neither major party are in a strong position atm.

obanoban · 26/11/2019 20:09

Corbyn's spending plans are unprecedented. Whether you like his plans or not, I think we can all agree on that he is planning to spend an unbelievably huge amount of money (trillions!!)

Corbyn says only the rich will have to pay more tax for all this spending. Luckily for him, the top 1 per cent of earners currently pay 27 per cent of the nation's income tax and the top 5 per cent of earners currently pay 50 per cent.
So a small number of very rich people will pay for half of everything.
But these people are very mobile.
If they don't like Corbyn's nationalisation policies, if they leave the country, if their businesses go bust, or if they put their money offshore, the rest of us will have to pay. People on very low incomes will have to pay through the nose for massive, reckless spending on things like nationalising utilities.
What will be left for the NHS and schools?
Nothing.
Corbyn will ruin the country - just like his hero and role model did in Venezuela.

I will be voting Conservative for the first time in my life.
