I’m breastfeeding a 3 week old baby and my dinner is a mushroom. AIBU to murder my husband in a hangry rage?!

Literally that.

MIL bought some big mushrooms at the weekend and there was one left, so she put some breadcrumbs and cheese on it for me. A little while ago I fell asleep on the sofa. Woke up and asked DH what he wanted for dinner. He said he’d just had his, he cooked/ate it while I was asleep. He made himself a bowl of pasta. I asked if there was any left for me? “No, I didn’t make you any. I thought you were having that mushroom.”

So... my dinner is a mushroom.

This mushroom isn’t the size of a plate or anything. It’s a big mushroom, but it’s still just a fucking mushroom.

I didn’t read beyond “3 week old baby”. Awwww! I’m sure he/she is adorable! How are you ? Getting any sleep?

Tun55 · 25/11/2019 20:45

If you murdered him already, don’t worry, you can always say you were at pizza express ;)

ruralcat · 25/11/2019 20:46

Oh op, I have a nearly 4 week old, also breastfeeding. Luckily my DH is quite on top of our evening meals but he just can't keep up with my biscuit needs!!

BennyTheBall · 25/11/2019 20:49

I would love that, but appreciate I am in the minority and would need 2 of them.

Awaywiththepiskies · 25/11/2019 20:49

Kill him and bury him under the patio. I’ll be your alibi
According to the poll, 96% of over 300 MN users will be your alibi.

I'm just trying to work out how 4% justify thinking the OP is in any way unreasonable. Her "D"H is a selfish thoughtless tosser in this story.

Quartz2208 · 25/11/2019 20:50

I was about to ask if he was always a selfish twat. And then I spotted your username and I realised I knew the answer

OP you know the answer. Nothing this man EVER does is for YOU at all. He is a selfish selfish man who is not going to change. Endlessly posting about him isnt going to change what you know. Which is he is not a good man/husband/Dad.

HavelockVetinari · 25/11/2019 20:52

@Tun55 yes! GrinGrin

In fact, @Glenthebattleostrich, @Tun55 and I were all at Woking Pizza Express, which is such an unusual activity for us that it's become etched on our memories forevermore.

CodenameVillanelle · 25/11/2019 20:52

This isn't funny at all. On what planet does a man think it's ok to cook and eat himself a meal whilst his 3 week post partum partner is napping between baby feeds? That's incredibly selfish.

fridgegrazer · 25/11/2019 20:53

Honestly, surely it's no harder to make pasta for two than for one - he must have seriously planned NOT to make you a meal. Utterly selfish - and not funny at all.

He could make you some cheese on toast at least to redeem himself a bit (but I bet he won't).

BarbaraofSeville · 25/11/2019 20:53

Don't cook anything for him for a very long time.

In a few years months serve him a single mushroom for dinner. If he says anything, just say 'oh, so you don't think a single stuffed mushroom is enough for dinner then'.

louderthan1 · 25/11/2019 20:57

Christ Almighty. I'd be disgusted at that being served to me for dinner and I've never given birth!

Seriously though please tell me why you are letting him get away with such spectacular selfishness??

dontlickthelamp · 25/11/2019 20:57

Cook him only one mushroom for the next year.

cacklingmags · 25/11/2019 21:00

Oh that mushroom is making me sad.

Banterlope · 25/11/2019 21:00

Give him a break, he sounds like a fun-guy (sorry)

YouTheCat · 25/11/2019 21:02

Is he one of these knobends that thinks his postpartum wife should be dieting as soon as they've given birth so they can get back in their size 10s and be wifely?

UnderHisEyeBall · 25/11/2019 21:04

What have you had for dinner OP?

DankGraveGhouls · 25/11/2019 21:05

ETB

(Eat the bastard)

BumbleNova · 25/11/2019 21:06

Where do you live? I will murder him for you. My DH learnt quickly I am HUNGRY when breastfeeding. Seriously, I'm actually livid on your behalf. You are feeding your baby, the bastard can feed you!

LH1987 · 25/11/2019 21:06

Some of these responses have really made me laugh!! But seriously what selfishness Shock

nocluewhattodoo · 25/11/2019 21:07

That's so sad OP, he shouldn't be treating you like that, I hope he isn't usually this selfish and it's sleep deprivation making him thoughtless. My DP was pretty useless with cooking when DD was a newborn, but he did at least pay for deliveroo.

oakleaffy · 25/11/2019 21:07

My brother's wife invited my parents round for Christmas Dinner...

Then announced it would be ''Stuffed Mushrooms''

Dad was incredulous and horrified, and said

''STUFFED MUSHROOMS? {pause for effect}THAT ISN'T A CHRISTMAS DINNER!''

so I sympathise.

My son makes great mushrooms on toast, but they are more of a snack than a meal..

madcatladyforever · 25/11/2019 21:07

Kill him and eat him.

JustDanceAddict · 25/11/2019 21:08

Mushroom
My arse!
When I was around 3 weeks pp we ordered pizza and when I finished mine I asked what was for mains 😂
I hope you got something decent to eat in the end.,

oakleaffy · 25/11/2019 21:09

Feed him fly agaric.

isitpossibleto · 25/11/2019 21:09

My ex expected me to carry on home educating, keep the house pristine and have the shopping done/dinner organised.
