Cream tea in a cafe yesterday, served Anchor squirty cream.
I was really surprised that any modern day coffee/tea place would think it acceptable to serve this stuff?

YABU. It’s fit.

SapphosRock · 24/11/2019 09:16

How much did you pay?

If less than a fiver YABU if more YANBU

NuffingChora · 24/11/2019 09:17

YANBU. They should be shut down. 😱

GatoFofo · 24/11/2019 09:18

I love squirty cream, can’t stand ‘proper’ cream.
But in a cafe I would would expect thick double cream or clotted cream to be served with a cream tea (which I wouldn’t be ordering) so YANBU.

KatherineJaneway · 24/11/2019 09:18

YANBU. Vile stuff.

BouleBaker · 24/11/2019 09:18

As part of a cream tea! That's just not right.

Blossie0 · 24/11/2019 09:19

YANBU contact advertising standards they need to be shut down.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/11/2019 09:19

Unless it was a cut price cream tea the YANBU.
Clotted cream is a must.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 24/11/2019 09:20

Being surprised cream came with cream tea.
Shocking.

pissedoff19 · 24/11/2019 09:20

I like squirty cream but it's not for on a cream bun. I was served it once on a scone, was all kinds of wrong!

30to50FeralHogs · 24/11/2019 09:20

Squirty cream has no place in a cream tea! I’ve had this and it’s so disappointing. Should 100% be clotted cream but if not then double cream. Never squirty.

pinkstripeycat · 24/11/2019 09:21

Delicious!

SerenDippitty · 24/11/2019 09:21

YANBU I would at least expect Rodda clotted cream!

EvenPhilip · 24/11/2019 09:21

Oh behave yourself MrsFox. Hmm

I'd be highly disappointed with that. Squitty cream is fine on hot chocs, milkshakes and puddings but with scones it has to be clotted cream.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 24/11/2019 09:23

If the place has any pride whatsoever it wouldn't serve it, no. Plus I find after a few moments it starts to almost evaporate or go a but flat, it doesn't have the same "hold" as proper cream IYSWIM?

So no YANBU.

Ketomeato · 24/11/2019 09:24

Oh I take it back. Squirty cream is acceptable on a cup of coffee but on a scone in a cream tea? Massive no. It’s clearly run by peasants. Burn it down.

Howlovely · 24/11/2019 09:24

That's disgusting. Not acceptable at all. Got to be clotted or whipped double cream at a push. You are definitely not being unreasonable.
MrsFox, what on earth are you on about?!

SerenDippitty · 24/11/2019 09:25

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz Yes, it collapses into nothing. Totally unsuitable for scones.

GoGoLego · 24/11/2019 09:27

Yanbu as someone who lives in Cornwall that would be downright illegal down here

The horror!

BlackSwanGreen · 24/11/2019 09:34

YANBU and I would be gutted (unless cream tea was v cheap as a pp says).

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 24/11/2019 09:37

SarahjGrin

Actuality the only use for squirty cream is to pump a mouthful into ones gob when passing the fridge (there's a knack to doing it ensuring the pump mechanism doesn't touch your mouth or that's some gross cross contamination going on).

I had a cream tea some time ago where the scone arrived sliced in half and ready loaded with jam and cream Confused The disappointment ruined the rest of my day.
