To say that the minutes seem eternal at this hour (and ask who’s up)

Hi all,
I’m staying with my grandparents and wakened up at 03.55 and have been awake ever since. I wakened at 03.55, waited until 04.00 to get out of bed, came into the kitchenette and poured a drink, went back into the bedroom for my phone, came back to the kitchenette and sat down at the table where I still am. It feels like an eternity since I woke up, so I’m starting this thread for some chat.

@Noseynails @Llamallamadingdong

It's starting to, one more should sort me until later on. I've got another hour before my wife is up and about and wanting coffee, she's mad and does an exercise class first thing on a Sunday morning.

She's welcome to that, I'll take the easier option and do the ironing Confused

Westfacing · 24/11/2019 06:17

Aw, Chattybun that's a nice post about your late Nana, particularly love the jelly and ice cream! I'm a grandma and I hope my GC remember me so fondly when I'm long gone.

Hope everyone managed a bit more sleep or have a chance of catchup later!

sittingonacornflake · 24/11/2019 06:19

After DS's 3:54 wake up yesterday I was dreading looking at the time when he woke up today but I was actually pleasantly surprised to see 4:47 so that's an improvement. Were just having tea and mashed banana and peanut butter on toast. Well, we were, DS is now eating the left over banana and peanut butter with a spoon. Grin

Noseynails · 24/11/2019 06:28

@Chattybum that was a lovely post.

I got up with the 6yo sleepover guest when he woke at 5'45 Angry

Not enjoying this one:
He didn't like the pizza
He didn't like the popcorn
He didn't like his glass of water Confused
He's been teasing our dog, he's been banging DS' toys around, he's broken up Lego structures, there's been no please or thank you....

5'45

We're taking him to the beach at 10, and I can come home for a pre-lunch siesta Grin

PhilCornwall1 · 24/11/2019 06:44

@elQuintoConyo

I'd be phoning his parents to come and get him and then go back to bed.

EllenOlenska · 24/11/2019 06:46

I'm here but late to the party! Went to bed at 1, took an age to drop off to sleep only to be woken at 4am bu some idiot using the road as a speedway track (it's a long country lane) TWICE.
Tried to nod off but the noise had disturbed the cat and she must have thought it was the alarm clock because she did her balancing act on my back until I got up which she usually does😂

nugget36 · 24/11/2019 07:08

I'm also a bit late here too! My 4 month old puppy (she's the size of a Shetland pony) decided to come and dive on top of me and give me many sloppy kisses.
We are now having a cuddle on the couch while she chews her deer antler and I enjoy a hot latte in the peace and quiet

The fellas that came yesterday for 'any old iron' have been already! Seriously, it was dark when they left last night and they're back in the skip! There is no more in there, than there was!

However, the weights bench and all gubbins was by the front door waiting to go out, so I opened the door and let them take it. One less job!

And incredibly I've had 3 messages for the sofas already!

It's still only 7.40am!

maldivemoment · 24/11/2019 07:50

I think this has been a lovely thread because, despite how tired we all are with our ‘silly o’clock’ wake time, no one is really complaining about it too much! Nice reading about folk just putting the kettle on, making wee folk their breakfast, etc.
Lovely!

PhilCornwall1 · 24/11/2019 07:51

It's been great reading this for sure.

maldivemoment · 24/11/2019 07:53

Well done Nosey for starting our day with a smile!

Noseynails · 24/11/2019 08:07

Thanks @PhilCornwall1 & @maldivemoment

morning all. I managed to sleep from not long after 5am till about 7:45 when dh woke me for the joy of early morning kids' swimming lessons. I have had a shower. I need to be dressed and sitting in the car driving seat in 13 minutes. this seems very unreasonable.

I have tried melatonin tablets. they don't work for me generally because they only address the physical aspects of insomnia and I need to get into the right frame of mind. a bottle of pills without the right frame of mind is useless and the right frame of mind generally (for me) doesn't need the pills too.

Noseynails · 24/11/2019 08:55

Morning @SoxiFodoujUmed I didn't sleep, so I am lying on the settee under a blanket watching Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets... I don't envy you with the swimming!

SoxiFodoujUmed · 24/11/2019 09:03

I envy you the sofa and the harry potter. hoping for some sofa time with kittens and popcorn and Avengers End Game later. it is loud here, the benches are very uncomfortable and there is a no shoes at the pool side rule so my feet are bare and in a puddle.

FrenchyQ · 24/11/2019 09:15

Hi all, I was awake from 2am til 5am this morning, tried listening to music but just couldn't switch off. Would have liked to have just got up and watched TV but husband doesn't like me doing that.
Managed to sleep from 5 til 7.45. Absolutely knackered but got tons to do today.

Chattybum · 24/11/2019 09:29

@Westfacing I'm sure they will feel very lucky to have you! I feel lucky everytime I think of mine. I have a very clear image of them both hanging onto their sunhats on a fiercely hot sports day and cheering me on like they were at Ascot. They probably had no idea if I was winning or not and couldn't of cared less either. They were both widowed young and as different as night and day, but they were both just wonderful. I'm very happy that OP is padding around and having a cosy morning with her grandparents, what a lovely thought, I bet they love having you there to wake up to.

I've been roused out of bed by my partner with a coffee and a warm croissant from Tesco which is our Sunday morning treat. Counting all my blessings today.

elQuintoConyo · 24/11/2019 09:44

Phil the mother's phone is off Angry

Got to the beach, all well and good, until Lordling threw a plastic beach toy into the sea! DS is very unimpressed. Can't contact his mother (don't have the dad's number).

I'm extra fucked off as we had a storm last night which dredged up a fuckyon of plastic onto the beach, and I'm here with a bag collecting it all up. Which we all did together last weekend, too. But no, plastic gets chucked into the sea Angry

I want to say 'wee shite' but he's just 6yo and I blame his parents.

Noseynails · 24/11/2019 09:59

Grandad is still in bed and Gran is pottering around the kitchenette… I’m still on the sofa.

@Noseynails I take it there has been no repercussions for polishing off the last of the black forest Wink

PhilCornwall1 · 24/11/2019 10:17

I didn't get anymore sleep, but the lady of the house did get fresh coffee when she surfaced. She legged it out to her exercise class and I did the ironing, sorted the international underwear mountain to put away, nipped the hoover over and now think I'll have a cup of tea.

@elQuintoConyo he sounds like a right handful, deep breaths and plenty of smiling through gritted teeth.
