to feel like I want to get away from everything and everyone? *lighthearted (fairly)

Lighthearted (fairly) I feel like screaming inside. Everything feels too much sometimes. Overwhelmed.

My ideal space on my own would be a night or two by the sea, walks on my own, evening drawing or painting, a swim in a pool with low lighting and hardly anyone around...

..somehow I think it wouldn't be like this though. I'd probably be using headspace worrying about the kids! Good to escape by dreaming though, I guess!

What would your ideal relaxation include?

A sauna and a steam room. And a jacuzzi.

A hotel room, Netflix, room service and not engaging with anyone!

Somewhere warm and sunny, a good book, a pool, a lovely sea or lakefront for walking/running.

Sirzy · 23/11/2019 12:11

Me, a couple of good books, a log fire and some mulled wine!

Sinopehope · 23/11/2019 12:14

All of the above depending on the mood I’m in. Isn’t it amazing how our ‘down time’ is all about solitude. I think that speaks volumes.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 23/11/2019 12:19

I actually managed to do this in the summer. I had 3 nights away in a self catering place in Cornwall. I walked for miles, read loads, wrote, and had some lovely food. And as I broke my phone on the first day (oops!) I was completely disconnected. It was bliss!

halfpasteleven · 23/11/2019 12:23

If I can get to the sea today (an hours drive) I will be happy. Need a walk - a bracing walk with sea air and crashing waves to help me think.
Worth the drive I always feel better after it.

Twinkletoenails · 23/11/2019 12:29

Rhinestone that sounds incredible!

halfpasteleven maybe this is what I need to do regularly. Am 30/40 mins from the coast.

Sinope so true. I seem to need contact with others though. Am a social being but need my space!

I read about a Reading Retreat on here once, a weekend to read, where meals and snacks are provided. Sounds like bliss at the moment.

MissBunkle wow! Bliss

Do it! The best valentine’s gift my DH ever bought me was a night on my own in a hotel. I’ve done it every few months since. Sometimes we just need some alone time!
