To think the reduced section is the best place in the supermarket?

I know this is sad but I so love my bargains. My local supermarket has suddenly started reducing things to 25% of original selling price on the day they're due to go out of date.

Haven't bought full price meat or fish in months. Several pizza express pizzas in freezer. Tonight's chicken quesadilla and salad meal for 5 costing about £4.

Anyone else as sad as me?

Oh yes! The best reduction I have found was on boxing day at morrisons before it closed. We got a lot of beautiful pork tenderloins for a bargain.

Post Xmas reductions are amazing. I always hoover up all the posh m&s vegetable dishes and party snacks for the freezer and then for weeks after we have posh sides with our cheap brisket roasts every Sunday.

total bun fight in our asda the people in the know block it off with their trolleys and you have no chance till they have bagged a trolley full of stuff leaving all the crap stuff behind, and one day the yellow sticker stuff was actually dearer as individual items than the fresh well in date offers of two items on the normal shelves Eg reduced price £3.00 down to £2 on the normal shelf 2 for £3 so you have to watch for that as well i just go to aldi now and spend less than i did in asda

iceland do some good bargains on christmas stuff after christmas so i fill the freezer then

Agree that you have to be careful and know about variations and offers. Co-op at 3.30 on a Sunday is good for fruit and veg - berries, asparagus etc for 15p a pack. Normally co-op reductions are quite shit as well but the Sunday fruit and veg one is excellent value. They keep for a few days as well because the packaging is designed to make them last.

Best discount for us was a coat for DD1 for equivalent of 75p (bought in a supermarket in France)

Be careful of the fresh bread section in Asda just before the prices get marked down a baying mob group forms. Try to get through and they start to mutter and shuffle aggressively! They actually are just a little bit scary.

When/how much they discount depends on the area, and the individual branch. Two branches of tesco near me, one is far more generous with discounts.
I worked in Knightsbridge a few years ago' the M&S would have stuff discounted on my way into work.

The M&S near where I work doesn’t open over the weekend. Friday lunchtime shopping is a goldmine because they mark everything down that would go out of date before the Monday 😁

I have loads of meat in the freezer from reduced. The £1 chicken I cooked up, used for salads all week then made soup from the bones was the best bargain.

I've rarely had much luck myself. A bargain from time to time but usually nothing I want. Or it's stuff that's reduced but still expensive 'naice' stuff I don't buy. If I'm cooking for family dietary restrictions tends to rule a lot of the stuff.

I’d love to buy cheap food with yellow stickers but my local supermarkets don’t reduce by much, only maybe 20p. For that saving I’d rather have a fresh one.
