Especially in younger people.

Consultant thinks my DH has it. He’s 42. Facing an agonising 2 month wait until other tests are done but I think that is just going through the motions as other lung conditions have been ruled out.

I don’t know how I can keep acting as normal while I’m so worried. Our youngest child is only 2.

I’m worried sick about the poor prognosis this condition seems to have ☹️

I'm sorry Jinxed2, that's hard. Especially to have to wait so long for confirmation. My DDad was diagnosed with this. It sounds like you did the same as me and promptly googled endlessly.

If it's any help, DDad's diagnosis was over a year ago and if anything he has improved since. He had some physio advice with various breathing exercises to help him clear his lungs which made a noticeable difference. And he's got quite disciplined at doing some regular gentle aerobic exercise. The key treatment issue is that he has abx the instant he gets any kind of respiratory infection - literally has some on standby at home for the first sign of a cold. I worry more about abx resistance in the population now because he needs to be able to rely on them.

I don't have more encouragement than that, but the statistics are population stats. Averages aren't a predictor for individuals. I really hope the news is better than you're dreading.
