To think Kate Middleton should be allowed to wear nail polish?

I was browsing through an old Vanity Fair from 2017 at hairdressers today and read a piece on the RF. Apparently the Queen thinks coloured nail polish is 'vulgar and does not meet Royal Standards'! So I guess that doesn't just apply to herself as Kate looked great as usual at the Royal Variety Show last night apart from her hands! I think a splash of nail colour would have been nice! Nothing garish or anything but it would have completed her outfit. What do you think?

What a thought provoking thread about nails and surnames. Riveting.

Don’t click on it then. Lots of other threads out there. Why comment if it’s so beneath you?

Cookit · 20/11/2019 10:50

I’m so glad she doesn’t have awful long, fake nails in garish colours. It’s one of the trends of the last 10+ years that I just can’t understand.

LaurieMarlow · 20/11/2019 10:56

Loads of people use colour without having long/fake nails.

Bluerussian · 22/11/2019 21:00

Yes Mummy195, Kate seems docile. I don't mean that in a negative way - perhaps 'gentle' is a better word. She is certainly very supportive of her husband and his wider family and has fitted into her role well. The Cambridge's seem like a very happy couple & their children are gorgeous.

Happysummer2020 · 23/11/2019 02:18

What are you on about happysummer2020. She was stating that her name had changed (as many do and some don’t) when she got married

Nah. She's still Kate to me. I dont buy into the ridiculous fantasy that the Royal family are in any way superior.

BusterGonad · 23/11/2019 02:57

Agreed, everyone knows exactly who is being referred to when Kate Middleton is used.
Also I'm sure royal protocol bans/highly discourages the use of bright nail colours, I can see why as long fake talons in 'fashionable' colours isn't the classiest look.
Also as we are on the subject tights are a must, no one wants to see corn beef legs.

VanGoghsDog · 23/11/2019 10:40

These two things are not the same.

It's entirely possible to wear any nail colour you want without having long fake talons.

I keep my nails short and squared off, but often paint them bright colours. No idea if they are "fashionable" colours though.

BusterGonad · 23/11/2019 10:50

I know VanGogh but you know what I'm saying, I like nail colour too but surely you can see why it might be banned or is it too difficult?

LaurieMarlow · 23/11/2019 10:53

No. I’ve no idea why you’d ban colour or find it ‘difficult’.

What’s difficult about it?

Same with wedge heels. The only objection to them is that they’re not to her maj’s taste.

Given that said taste was formed in the 1950s, I’d be frustrated if I were a younger royal.

TheVanguardSix · 23/11/2019 10:55

Maybe she just likes a natural nail.

TheVanguardSix · 23/11/2019 10:55

That sounds really wrong what i just wrote. Grin

LaurieMarlow · 23/11/2019 10:57
Grin

Looks like she does like it.

But it feels a bizarre thing to impose on everyone else.

SharkasticBitch · 23/11/2019 11:00

The Queen can't stop her son hanging around with paedophiles and generally behaving like a cunt.

I doubt she has any time for whether or not Kate wears bloody nail varnish.

LazyDaisey · 23/11/2019 11:05

“She favours a single coat of the shade ‘Ballet Slippers’ by Essie.”

No she doesn’t. Her hairdresser requested a pale pink shade of nailpolish and Essie’s PR have been calling it that ever since. Has no one ever looked at their nails? They’re not wearing that ballet slipper colour, which looks almost whiteish.

Here’s an article that details it

Wildorchidz · 23/11/2019 11:15

Kate wears wedges a lot of the time .

VanGoghsDog · 23/11/2019 11:17

but surely you can see why it might be banned or is it too difficult?

Yes, it is too difficult for me to understand why it is anyone's business what other people do with their nails?

BusterGonad · 23/11/2019 11:23

Oh goodness, I cannot cope with the lack of understanding.

VanGoghsDog · 23/11/2019 11:53

I can't cope with the horrible judgement on how other people choose to present themselves 🤷🏼‍♀️
