To be sad that DS's school career is coming to an end - and to want to give his teachers a medal?

He is my oldest. He is in Upper 6.

He started at this school when he was 13. Until then, school had been problematic for him. This school has, however, been monstrously brilliant for him. He has loved every second of it since the minute he started.

The teachers are brilliant, and I would like to give them all medals for bravery (for having taken him on). The school is brilliant beyond words. But he only has a few months to go now.

I mostly take this on the chin and think that's life. But I made the mistake just now of looking at a photograph that I took of him at school, and it made me feel a bit wistful.

AIBU to be sorry that his school career is ending (and to say that I am in awe of every single one of his teachers, who have not only sent him on a stellar academic path, but - more importantly - have looked after him and cherished him and treated him as if he were as special as I think he is?)

YANBU to be a bit sad but YABU to dwell on it at all. Being in awe of his teachers is separate to being sad he's leaving.

You have to embrace the future.

It sounds like he’s been really popular throughout his time at school. That’s great!
