To dislike man because my dog does?

Went to friends house with dog today (doggy play date). My dog showed instant dislike to my friends husband, barking and growling at him. I put it down to her being a bit funny with men but then another bloke came in and she ran over, smothered him in kisses, tail wagging etc ... yet when friends husband tried to get her attention she went back to growling and barking. In the end I sat on the floor with her to reassure her that it was ok and the husband stroked her head. She tolerated it but growled throughout.

No obvious reason.

AIBU to keep a distance from this bloke now, and trust my dogs instincts? Friend has invited me around tomorrow for dog play date but she won’t be home, just her hubby. I’m inclined to trust my dog that he’s a wrong un. Hubby thinks I’m being ridiculous.

My dogs have lived a sheltered life, they have absolutely no reason to hate anyone no matter what they look like.

A few days ago she was growling at Nigel Firage on telly ... she never growls at Boris.

My dog went absolutely submissive once when a very tall imposing plain clothed police officer came round to take a statement once.
I found him odd myself. He was very robotic in his movements and they way he spoke was slow and methodical. He just felt awkward which I wasn’t too alarmed about.
However my dog proceeded to pretty much crawl around on her tummy with her tail between her legs and hanging her head down and wouldn’t go anywhere near him which was totally bizarre for her as she’s very sociable. It normally takes a crow bar to prise her away from visitors.
He gave me my statement to read and sign and whilst I’m doing this he calls her over by merely pointing at the floor. She literally crawls over to him and the next thing, well, they’re best friends. I actually ended up rescuing him from her because she went overkill with dog kisses.
It turns out that at some point he had trained dogs and I genuinely think my dog was picking up on his very strong Alpha male presence and she just didn’t know what to do with herself!
Dogs are just random sometimes!

There's always a word from Sir Pterry:

The dog doesn't care whether its owner is a good person, just whether it loves the dog.

My dogs very rarely take a dislike to someone and are good at ignoring people who aren't interested in them. On the rare occasion one of them lets me know he doesn't like a stranger I take it seriously!

Yes & no. I do trust animal instincts on people, but ...

I've known a lovely natured Rotti who took to going mental at certain men of obvious particular race & would have attacked every time given the chance.

Unfortunately dog was home when their home was burgled by a man of this skin colour, hair type etc & dog got hurt & he has aggressively blamed every similar looking male ever since
