I'm sorry to post here but it gets the most traffic!
So last few days these little bug type things keep appearing in my front room, on wall and couch!
Found about 7 so far, I'm freaking out, do you know what they are! I've zoomed in, they are length of a grain of rice but alot thicker they move aswell, my house is clean and tidy not pulled out sofa yet but I would think it's a bit dusty, I'm wracking my brain thinking what and where they are coming fromShock

Moth larvae? Do you have wool carpets?

Majorcollywobble · 17/11/2019 13:39

Carpet beetle larvae ?

Allinadaystwerk · 17/11/2019 13:40

Was going to say moths too. I would be freaking out

Majorcollywobble · 17/11/2019 13:43

I think they are carpet beetles after looking them up - woolly bears ?

Please help!!!
egontoste · 17/11/2019 13:44

Carpet beetle larvae are furry. They look more like clothes moth larvae to me.

DartmoorChef · 17/11/2019 13:44

Have you put any pine cones in the room or anything else brought in like logs

Mopmum35 · 17/11/2019 13:44

Mopmum35 · 17/11/2019 14:34

They are not furry no,
We have had some holes in my husbands work tops, @DartmoorChef no pine cones but a new pot plant, it has little bits of bark in the soil.

They look like carpet beetle larvae to me, young ones; the 'wool' on them appears as they get older.

Mopmum35 · 17/11/2019 15:20

Carpet beetle larvae, they are buggers. Vacuum thoroughly, steam clean your carpets, furniture etc if you can. We have them and it's taking forever to get rid as we have darker carpets so didn't notice them straight away!

WagtailRobin · 17/11/2019 15:36

This won't be helpful but I'd have to move out until they were gone!

Mopmum35 · 17/11/2019 16:11

@Aveisenim thanks, they are awful aren't they!

@WagtailRobin I really cant Stand anything like this, I cant cope moving out is a good option 🤣

Definitely carpet beetles, we got a professional carpet cleaning company in, they’ll wreck your carpets if not thoroughly removed.

MitziK · 17/11/2019 16:35

Newly hatched Carpet Beetle larvae.

Steam the fuck out of everywhere, especially the joint between the skirting and the floor and the settee itself.

user1494670108 · 17/11/2019 16:39

I've had and got rid of these but not before they left hold on my carpets. I used a powder by Rentokil that you leave in for 24 hours and I still use sticky Pheromone traps that seems to keep them at bay (the traps do catch a few moths so set a calendar reminder to change them regularly)

user1494670108 · 17/11/2019 16:39

*left holes in my carpets not hold!

stucknoue · 17/11/2019 16:50

Lakeland lavender carpet spray did the trick when we got them, remember to change your vacuum bag after you clean too

Mopmum35 · 17/11/2019 21:39

@Wowserme omg so they are little bloody fuckers then!
@MitziK ewwww I'm itching all over at the sound of that but thanks I'll get a steam cleaner I think its justifiable getting one for these little imposters!
@MitziK that's great thanks I was wondering about little traps! Good idea about the calendar. Shame about your carpet.
@stucknoue o yes I have just come across that! Well I will get some now thanks.
I just cant believe it 😖 I'm horrified I have them.
I thought it might have something to do with my dc's toy wooden kitchen, they got it wet and it soaked the wood so I got rid of it thinking it might be that!😬 ooh well. Thanks everyone.

There's probably some smushed up biscuit crumbs down the back of the sofa that the little bastards have taken advantage of.

Steam all your rooms and brace yourself for cleaning behind your fridge and down the back/side of the kitchen cupboards where your toaster sits.

Mopmum35 · 17/11/2019 22:26

@MitziK lol, I've hovered the back of the sofa which wasnt to bad, lots of my head hair🤷🏻‍♀️( I was expecting some sort of food stuff behind there that dc might of lobbed over without me knowing 🤦‍♀️ I need to get the spays and steam cleaner and traps tomorrow.
My toaster is ok ( back of as I have to pull it out to use it so I regularly wipe that area) but you've got me thinking, I'll have to move my cooker as there are tiny gaps either end so crumbs will of fell down there. Thanks for your advice 😁

They're attracted to anything organic. Crumbs, fluff, hair, natural materials... Get behind your fridge freezer etc too.

Mopmum35 · 18/11/2019 07:19

@Aveisenim my hair is very long, I do Hoover alot but not behind my sofa as much,, hair was behind my sofa! O yes I will be pulling fridge out today! Thanks.
