To have walked out of the hairdressers

Prepared to be told I abu but this has annoyed me!
2 year old DD has lovely curly hair but her fringe has been getting in her face so time for a hair cut. Messaged my regular hairdresser if she did children's haircuts not a problem so appointment booked for 10.30 yesterday!
Went in and sat down with a nervous 2 year old. Hairdresser was putting dye on another lady looked like she had just started. Asked politely 25 minutes in if she would be much longer as we had somewhere to be at 11.30 (somewhere only 10 minutes away) said she wouldn't be long now (even though it was already 25 minutes over no apology) Sat there for 40 minutes, hairdresser walked into the back to get more hair dye so no sign of it being our turn. So I said have to to go or I'll be late and hairdresser seemed mad at me! No apology or anything. Would anyone else have walked out or was I in the wrong?

I would have walked out sooner. Never go back. Don’t cut a fringe. Use a hair clip.

Some small business owners can be so unprofessional, her customer service is atrocious and is doing her no favours.

Even if she was somehow annoyed with you, the least she should do is apologise and not berate you in her response.

If I’m being honest, the lady with the colour was probably spending more money than you were so she probably prioritised that client instead. Maybe that client came in late and she couldn’t afford to turn her away as she needed the income? However she should have obviously given you a realistic wait time as it’s unacceptable to keep a client waiting indefinitely like that.

To double book is a genuine mistake. For her to huff & puff about it and then make you out to be the bad guy truly is unacceptable and I wouldn’t bother going back either. YANBU.

Very rude, I would have have been long gone.

She owes YOU an apology.

Some hairdressers think that once you are with them a while they can keep you waiting.

I have had a similar thing happen and after the second time I never went back.

Ran into the hairdresser 6 months later and she asked why I hadn't been in.

I told her that it didn't suit me for having my hair done to take hours due to them overbooking.

I told her I felt it was very disrespectful of my time.

She was a bit stunned but I was very🤷

She said she did apologise but I'm convinced she didnt. The first message she sent me she said sorry you had to go for another appointment. I was waiting 40 minutes! I do believe the other lady was either late or she double booked and hoped she would leave us till after the ladys colour. Sent numerous messages back and forth but its just excuse after excuse and no genuine apology so I'm just leaving it and going elsewhere. She booked us in for a Saturday because she only does Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Not wrong at all

My hairdresser apologises if she keeps me waiting for 5 minutes! And it's usually because I turned up 10 minutes early.

I think she may be a saint ...

Cut it yourself. It takes five minutes to cut a child's fringe, and much less stress than going to the hairdresser.
