Let's say someone has behaved really badly and you just cannot let it pass without confronting them. They've caused a lot of hurt to a lot of people and have been manipulative.

When you confront them and they say you have no right to judge them what would your best comeback be?

This person uses this line a lot to deflect from answering a question so need a good response to shut it down.

You're wasting your time, people like this always feel they can justify their horrible behaviour and nothing you say or do will make the slightest difference to them.

Life isn't a scripted drama.

ChoochooMcGoo · 16/11/2019 13:08

I want to get my point across without being shut down. Its not about having a script.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 16/11/2019 13:09

Kick him/her in the cock/foof.

Dieu · 16/11/2019 13:10

I'd say: Hmm, yeah, they do say that narcissists find it hard to take responsibility.

Mintlegs · 16/11/2019 13:11

You can give your opinion on facts and lay it out to them. As the other poster said they are unlikely to agree. We have a family member like this, they are awful. I have little interaction with them thank heavens!

DanglyTasselsOfThigh · 16/11/2019 13:11

'That's all well and good but I do have the right to point out that you have hurt xxxx, so let me have my say please!'

ChoochooMcGoo · 16/11/2019 13:12

Love it! Keep it coming Grin

Butchyrestingface · 16/11/2019 13:13

It depends on you relationship to them (ie, boss?) and what they did.

Personally, I would try not to waste that much thought on them.

VisibleShantiLine · 16/11/2019 13:13

I love the word “foof”. Bless you, MN.

As for comebacks, I rarely think there’s a point. Would rather just remove that person from my life and not spend anymore energy on them.

What did your person actually do?

ChoochooMcGoo · 16/11/2019 13:20

Not boss, not relative. Someone who is actively hurting someone i care about.

OP posts:
ScreamingCosArgosHaveNoRavens · 16/11/2019 13:23

they say you have no right to judge them

"On the contrary, I have every right to judge you".

VisibleShantiLine · 16/11/2019 13:25

To what end though, OP? What do you think it will achieve? It’s great you want to stand up for your loved one, don’t get me wrong. There really isn’t enough of that about these days. But will saying something make things worse for your friend? Can you not help them take practical steps to remove themselves from the person’s life instead?

Lockheart · 16/11/2019 13:27

YABU.

StealthPussy · 16/11/2019 13:30

Say, “The universe has judged you. And the verdict is in. You’re a rancid piece of shit!”

GoodDogBellaBoo · 16/11/2019 13:35

’You have no right to judge me!’
’And yet, I do.’
Walk away.

Sagradafamiliar · 16/11/2019 13:42

Jut say they've misunderstood, you're not judging, you're laying out some facts.

RockinHippy · 16/11/2019 13:45

you have no right to judge them

'Crikey, I hadn't thought of you as a narcissist before, but that's an almost text book response. You do realise that's not normal don't you" said with cocked head & concerned smile

aquashiv · 16/11/2019 13:46

Ignore the comeback and continue with your sentence with a big smile.

Thelonewanderer · 16/11/2019 13:50

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone has one

TimeforanotherChange · 16/11/2019 13:52

"People do judge you. This is what I'm pointing out to you. Your behaviour was appalling and people have, quite rightly, formed an opinion of you based on this. Saying they have no right to judge you is simply bullshit and fool no one".

Wattagoose90 · 16/11/2019 14:29

Loving this thread!

I can't do any better than @StealthPussy suggestion. Great response there!

Please can you update us and let us know how it goes? When are you planning to confront this person?

Firstawake · 16/11/2019 14:34

"You can't tell stupid," then runaway !

Majorcollywobble · 16/11/2019 14:36

I’d be tempted to say

Only someone with a total
lack of judgment would say that

ISmellBabies · 16/11/2019 14:36

"nevertheless". Saw it on another thread, am using it liberally. Perfect response to any bullshit imo.

Redshoesandtheblues · 16/11/2019 14:37

No judgement involved, just outlining the facts.
