Okay so my boyfriend and I have been through some tough times together .. only really starting to get over them to be honest.. we have 2 kids together and my birthday is coming up, for it I I usualy dont do much atall and for the past 4 years I haven't been able to have what you call a proper birthday as I was pregnant or we had kids and no one to have them, this year my OH is taking me away for to a 4* spa hotel in Cornwall.. and I have the slightest feeling he may propose.. hes been talking loads about getting a house together and setting a date to save ect ... but he said hed never do it on a celebrated date.. does the say before and after count??! Ahh I dont want to get my hopes up but hes never done anything like this for me in the 5+ years we've been together!

If you want to marry him then you should ask him

Butchyrestingface · 15/11/2019 21:52

If he doesn’t propose, why not you ask him?

Phoebe1996 · 15/11/2019 21:59

I didnt want to ask him if it's a surprise and then he doesn't do it because I know and as he said already he wouldnt do it near birthdays im not sure if im getting my Hope's up.. a few months before I had said that I really want to be engaged soon so just though can this be it or is it just a really nice birthday weekend away! Either way I'll be happy as I know hes put loads of thought into it! Just wondered if this sort of thing has happened to anyone else! 😬

For goodness sake, take some control over your own life.

You seem to be living your life in reverse order, OP! First the kids, then the house, then the saving to get married? My generation tended to do it the other way round. We didn’t fancy risking our financial security on having kids with a man who hadn’t even committed to marriage.
I hope you’ve both at least made wills and sorted out things like life assurance, joint tenancy and finances. And if he doesn’t propose on your trip away, I’d be inclined to propose to him, or ask him what the hell he’s still dithering about!
Good luck. Don’t let it spoil your trip if it doesn’t happen. Some men string their partners along indefinitely with vague promises of a “some day” proposal. I hope yours isn’t one of those.
