To ignore the parcel deliveries?

Next door keeps getting parcels delivered when they’re not home to receive them. This means parcel man knocks on our door to leave them here. This means I have to stop eating my lunch, control the dogs (who are now going mental) answer the door in my prison trousers and then have parcels stuck all over my house.

We don’t even get on with these neighbours!!

AIBU to just stop answering the door unless I’m expecting something? It’s only going to get worse with Christmas coming up

Ourm neighbours (and the delivery driver) are a PITA when it comes to parcels. The delivery company who comes here often have strict instructions issued every single time I order online not to leave parcels with the neighbours. They ignore this, go to the neighbours who then dump them on our doorstep in full view of the whole road.
I've filed a claim for a 'lost' parcel today which was signed for by the neighbours and never received by us. The retailer says it was left in a safe place, I've emailed them the screen shot on their website of the instruction not to leave it with the neighbours. They are denying having received it.

As we are retired and most of the neighbours are ( cul-de-sac) then we all reciprocate. We also get random stuff ordered from DD who lives abroad and will be in UK for Xmas , she does WhatsApp us though.
The main problem is doors are locked even when at home and if DH has left his keys upstairs or some random coat, panic stations.

Maybe the op is a prison officer? Or one of those low security inmates who get allowed out now and again? But have to keep their trousers on?

asprinklingofsugar · 13/11/2019 16:28

Prison trousers may be a typo - possibly OP meant pyjama trousers?

ffswhatnext · 13/11/2019 16:29

That did make me chuckle.
So inmate why should we give you a day-release pass?
Cos I have to be in for the amazon deliveries. Missus is getting pissed off with having to do all the Christmas shite. So either I do my share of she'll use my balls for decorations 🤣

PlinkPlink · 13/11/2019 16:30

When I got pregnant, our NDn refused to take our parcels.

She was one of those people that has no problem speaking their mind.

As we were preparing for a baby, we had loads of parcels coming and we were both at work at the time.

Perfectly acceptable of her to not take in parcels. I did feel sorry for the postie that she laid into about it though 🙈

VenusTiger · 13/11/2019 16:31

Prison trousers are probably because OP works in a prison!

Ignore the door.

goose1964 · 13/11/2019 16:32

I'll take parcels for one side but not for the bitch next door on the other side.

QueenOfOversharing · 13/11/2019 16:33

What. Are. Prison. Trousers. For. The. Love. Of. God?

ifIwerenotanandroid · 13/11/2019 16:33

Put a note by the front door so they don't knock/ring & upset the dogs. I have a note which specifies which neighbours I accept parcels for, & which houses will take parcels for me. It works.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 13/11/2019 16:34

goose1964, I feel like that about some of mine!

Bluntness100 · 13/11/2019 16:34

Yes that's it! That's the phrase I was looking for, maybe she's an inmate with a day release pass 🤣

RoomForMore · 13/11/2019 16:36

I need to know about prison trousers as well! Leaving a note on your door to say 'parcels for this address only' is a good idea

MarianaMoatedGrange · 13/11/2019 16:36

OP is obviously now banged up in the Isolation Unit.

DuckyGoLightly · 13/11/2019 16:36

Marking place for prison trousers.

melj1213 · 13/11/2019 16:43

Tbh as a one off I dont mind taking in parcels for the neighbours but I work late evening shifts (12-11pm) and they work 9-5 so unless I get up at 8am or drop round at 11pm then I can't return their parcel till my day off, which is annoying for both of us if my day off is Sunday and the parcel has arrived on a Tuesday.

Now, when the delivery guy tries to leave things with me I just say "Sorry, I'm just on the way out to work so the neighbour would be better to rearrange delivery." and most drivers are understanding.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 13/11/2019 16:43

Do we STILL not know what prison trousers are? Has OP been taken back to jail? Or has she been smothered by the mass of parcels for her NDN?

JavaQ · 13/11/2019 16:45

Bluntness100 hahaha!! snapped and farted!!!! Bear

JavaQ · 13/11/2019 16:50

YANBU

It would be terrible if your dogs urinated on the parcels. I have heard that can happen. No one would want that to happen twice.

Do you have a matching anklet by ASBO? Grin

Mollie3 · 13/11/2019 16:50

Yeah ignore it if your not expecting something problem solved

Your not their concierge 🤨

tillytrotter1 · 13/11/2019 16:51

I once had a pair of blue and white broad-striped summer trousers, I loved them. We went on a trip out to Alcatraz and the guide complimented me on getting into the spirit, the old photos showed the inmates wearing exactly the same trousers!

Shinesweetfreedom · 13/11/2019 16:53

Stick a notice on the door, parcels for this address.
If you know which delivery company it is also contact them.
Like hell would I be taking parcels in for someone I didn’t get on with

UnderTheButtNutHut · 13/11/2019 16:55

YABU for not telling us about the prison trousers.

Branster · 13/11/2019 16:58

Will the prison trousers go on the Style board?
Waiting for a pic or a diagram as a minimum Grin

Pick and choose, if you don’t feel like opening the door and are not expecting company, don’t bother.

It wouldn’t hurt if the dogs chew a corner of a parcel here and there or you leave some parcels outside your front door in the rain.

I agree they can take up space which is annoying.

5foot5 · 13/11/2019 17:01

Maybe prison trousers are specially cut to allow one of those tags on your ankle if you have been released on parole.
