Aibu to kind of miss it?
Endless fawning unintelligent threads gossiping about them, their make up, their rows (🙄) their fertility.

How is this ok ?

Just don't read it!

JoanBonJovi · 11/11/2019 08:46

There’s so much! Endless

Well, I suppose you can just scroll by if you're not interested.

There are a lot of threads about the RF but I don't think MN was particularly anti-royalist in bygone days.

JoanBonJovi · 11/11/2019 08:48

It’s really daily Mail. Seems a radical change to me.

Sparklingbrook · 11/11/2019 08:48

I think MN is still pretty anti-royal. Still see lots of posts about them being 'scroungers' etc and obviously there's some real venom for Prince Andrew currently. Meghan can't seem to do anything right either.

There's a topic but it doesn't seem to be used sadly.

JoanBonJovi · 11/11/2019 08:49

Yes. Can’t it be shoved in the topic by Mumsnet?

ZaraW · 11/11/2019 08:49

I don't get how anyone can excited about what Meghan. Kate or some European royalty wears. Obviously lots of people do as it's really popular in Style and Beauty.

JenniR29 · 11/11/2019 08:50

Ignore it, I have certain words muted on Twitter for this reason.

LittleLongDog · 11/11/2019 08:50

I disagree that it used to be anti-royalist.

Also, you need to consider the changed dynamic of the royals and of social media and the fact that this leads to conversation. (Eg everyone can readily see what MM etc are wearing/doing/saying much more easily than back when it was all reported in the papers and mags only.)

Sparklingbrook · 11/11/2019 08:50

I don't understand why the clothes Kate/Meghan wear sell out in minutes as soon as it's revealed where they are from. Same as anything the royal babies wear.
Who are all these people wanting to dress like the Royal Family? Confused

GoFiguire · 11/11/2019 08:51

Be more Woke.

PineappleDanish · 11/11/2019 08:53

What do you mean by "how is this OK"?

A decade ago there was no Duchess of Sussex and Kate and William weren't married. Beatrice and Eugenie were at Uni/school and not in the public eye as much. There wasn't as much fashion to talk about, or babies, as the older generation of royals had completed their families and didn't have as many outfits worth commenting on. Times have changed and things have moved on.

I'm not particularly interested in discussing their clothes either. So I don't.

AdelaideK · 11/11/2019 08:57

I think some comments about Meghan have led others to defend her so it appears more pro-royalty. This is misleading as a lot of those defending her probably don't give a shit for the monarchy, they just don't like the vicious threads that appear about her.

TheMustressMhor · 11/11/2019 10:43

I do think that as the Duchess of Sussex seems to come in for a lot of online vitriol (I don't mean from MN) that people do like to defend her.

A good deal of what she has to put up with is highly racist in tone.

DowntownAbby · 11/11/2019 10:51

I think it's the NetMums invasion.

There's far more 'gossipy' stuff here these days.

BertrandRussell · 11/11/2019 10:54

I’m a fervent and vociferous Republican. But I love frocks and jewellery and gossip, apart from anything else, it’s the only way I get anything like my money’s worth.

JacquesHammer · 11/11/2019 11:03

It's pretty easy to avoid - just don't open threads you're not interested in.

It seems such a bizarre hardship to a lot of people!

maras2 · 11/11/2019 11:45

Perhaps with the escalating nastiness on some social media, posters are more inclined to defend and be protective of some Royals out of a sense of decency.
This may come across as being pro royal but is in fact plain old sticking up for the seemingly underdog.
Just a thought as I'm no royalist but hate social media bullying.

Samcro · 11/11/2019 11:49

i have only seen the nasty anti M dos threads. so I assume you havn't got the topic hidden.

I woke at 3 am, can't be less woke by now, stupid word.

I woke at 3 am, can't be less woke by now, stupid word.

Same. Been awake since 3 and hate that word. Mostly because the science deniers have claimed it.
