I can't stand cleaning the cats litter tray of making sodding pack lunches even though they only take a few minutes to do. What jobs do you hate doing?

Our fuel meters are near the floor in a cupboard that's full of coats and shoes and you need a torch and a Pilates move to see the flipping small numbers then I have to try and write it down as well! Oh for the days of meter readers that came round with their own torch! Then I have to log on my account to tell them the readings. All takes forever to find out how much I owe them. Grr
Seems to be every few weeks they ask for this as well.

Newbie1981 · 11/11/2019 06:30

Changing the bed and emptying bins

Fightingmycorner2019 · 11/11/2019 06:34

God everything here
Glad it’s not me
Basically everything !!!!

Newbie1981 · 11/11/2019 06:35

so many saying the milk thing but I find that satisfying haha

JigsawsAreInPieces · 11/11/2019 06:37

Changing the duvet cover. I know how to do it and it's quick and easy but by god do I procrastinate over it. Coloured paper clips get put into colour order sooner! Grin

lotusbell · 11/11/2019 06:44

Dusting - our house is full.of it
Cleaning the bathroom - v. hairy OH so combination of hair, dust, fluff round the toilet, the sink, the shower. Then cleaning it and it all goes black.
Washing up - I'm a bugger for filling the bowl up then going off to do something else only to come back to it cold
Packed lunches - just the one is enough ta!

bumblingbovine49 · 11/11/2019 06:51

It used to be vacuuming but since I got my cordless shark, I dont mind it anywhere near as much ( downstairs anyway,l)

Changing the beds

I don't mind laundry and hanging stuff to dry and I always put dry stuff neatly. In baskets straight away but hate actually putting them away in drawers/ wardrobes etc.

Planning the food and making s list for the weekly shop ( takes DH 10 minutes or so but I take ages doing it so he does it instead Grin)

FlamingoQueen · 11/11/2019 07:17

I make sandwiches the night before. The thought of having to get up and make a sandwich feels me with dread. It’s so nice just to take it out the fridge and pop in it a lunch box.
Cleaning bathrooms is my bugbear.

wanderings · 11/11/2019 07:21

Changing bulbs or batteries. Batteries especially - many of them need a screwdriver these days, the old batteries have to be disposed of correctly (not in the bin or the household recycling), and I always feel resentful about the expense of the replacements.

Washing and drying my hair
Showering
Getting dressed, esp putting on my bra
Brushing my teeth,
Putting in my contact lenses
emptying dishwasher
Filing mail
Ringing people
Thinking up imaginative and tasty vegetarian and non veg evening meals for varied tastes ( oh hurrah when DH is away and we can have pizza, just me and DD).

Driving to and from work
Taking dog to vet
Buying online from varied shops, esp at Christmas, not knowing my password and getting it all delivered to various different places with varying delivery needs ( much rather go shopping and post).
Scraping off and using Amazon tokens ( to pay for some costing £25 and only having been given £150 worth in £5 tokens) yes, that's what I was doing yesterday.

wanderings · 11/11/2019 07:32

First world problem: I find online shopping a drag, even for nice things (I started a thread on it a little while ago). There's having to put in all your details, and register if it's a new retailer. When it's done, you're bombarded with adverts for whatever you browsed: they're jumping off the screen at me as I type, almost as a punishment for my avarice. Then when it arrives, there's possibly having to collect it, dispose of the bulky packaging, hide it away if it's a present for someone.

Eminybob · 11/11/2019 07:33

All of the above, but I am pathologically lazy.

Also, opening a tin of tuna and draining it. It’s the only canned food that still requires a can opener, my can opener is shit but I cba to buy a new one just for tuna. Plus I always forget how shit it is until I have tuna.
Plus then everything smells of tuna juice and I have to pick bits of tuna out of the drain.

Froggledoggleoggle · 11/11/2019 07:36

Vacuuming and mopping the floors.
Emptying the bins.

I'm currently a sahp so do all the housework, bar those, dh does them.

nakedavengeragain · 11/11/2019 07:39

Putting another toilet roll on. It takes what, 6 seconds but I find it irritating. The loose roll often flaps around the bathroom until it's finished Blush

letsgomaths · 11/11/2019 07:46

@DeeCeeCherry and @StillNoEyeDeer I too find lacing up trainers a drag: I feel like the centipede in Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach having to put on his forty-two boots, all of which have to be laced neatly. My DH (lightheartedly) tells me off for kicking them off without undoing the laces. Sometimes I long to wear Velcro trainers like children do. I often wear my trainers without socks, to save a bit of time. Yes, I know that's not the wisest move for a whole host of reasons, but I do it anyway.

wanderings · 11/11/2019 07:52

Renewing car insurance. Aargh!!!!!! It's never as simple as all the adverts say it is. It's so, so tempting to just let it auto-renew, which would cost £££ more than it should. I have to put all the details into a price comparison website, look up the details of previous claims (none of which were my fault, but cost me £££ Angry ), call my existing insurer to tell them I've got cheaper renewal quotes, and lament that the reason insurance costs so much is because of all the other idiots out there.

shhsecret · 11/11/2019 08:05

@SalemShadow as soon as I read the title of the post that was what popped into my mind!!! Takes even less time when one person cleans and the other person dries them but I hate it.
I also HATE cleaning cutlery. No dish washer either!!

PurBal · 11/11/2019 08:12

Unloading the dishwasher. Putting folded clothes away.

Keepmewarm · 11/11/2019 08:17

Dying my hair. It’s the getting started that I hate. I don’t hate it enough to pay someone to do it though!

DamnitCharlie · 11/11/2019 08:19

Not really a job but I find getting a shower, brushing my teeth, getting dressed then doing my hair the most boring, tedious repetitive part of the day. I used to dream of a Wallace and Gromit style machine to do my morning getting ready routine for me.

Sometimes I think of how life is made up of the small things we do every day rather than the big one off things and most of my life is made up of these dull tasks!!

Seashell80 · 11/11/2019 08:26

I have found my people! I can relate to nearly everything already mentionedSmile
Drying and putting away washing I always find so boring, I'm really good at sorting the washing into colours and whites and actually putting it in the washer but when it comes to putting it away I fail every time-have a small pile on bedroom floor that's been there for over a week and I still can't be arsed.
However, my most hated job is washing up the porridge pan after DD's breakfast, it's just grim. I suppose I could do it in the microwave but inevitably it always bubbles over and then I have to clean the microwave too!

Bin85 · 11/11/2019 08:31

I have found my people!
I have to follow TOMM and / or make lists to get the boring basics done.
Better get started ........in a minute ....

Chickychickydodah · 11/11/2019 08:48

Cleaning the bath, putting shopping away.

MaudesMum · 11/11/2019 08:50

Changing sheets and putting on duvet cover - to be fair this is partly because I've got arthritic hands and it hurts.
Chasing cat fur and cat litter around the house with the vacuum - its a never ending task.
I actually like the feeling when all the ironing is done and clothes put away - but I hate the fact that it'll start building up again almost instantly.

TheMidasTouch · 11/11/2019 09:00

Putting the bins out.
Getting the bins back in.
Emptying the dishwasher.
