AIBU to contact the company/landlord

My partner and I rent our flat. We know the landlord - it has all been sorted through Estate Agents though who deal with all the paperwork.

Recently we have been receiving letters to two men who are not our landlord. I thought it was odd because we do get previous tenants post sometimes but never for these names.

These letters have the clear panes where you can see the address and one of them was quite big and the letter has slid up so I could see the first couple of sentences. It was from a remortgage company and they were saying that the documents inside needed to be signed.

These people don't own the address, it's not any of our neighbours and we've had a few letters sent to this property now. I've not opened the letters because I'm pretty sure that it's illegal. I have returned some to the company stating that these people don't live at this address but we've had another one today.

AIBU to contact my landlord or the company to mention it? My Dad says no it's nothing to worry about but my Mum says to mention it.

What would you do? I've never owned a property let alone remortgage it so don't know

Give the post to your landlord let them deal with it

Write “Return to sender, not known at this address” and drop in the post box. The company will then try to contact the person another way. It’s not an issue or something to be worried about.

Thank you, glad to hear it's nothing to worry about
