To ask what are good 18th birthday presents for boys?

My friend's son is turning 18. I normally buy him a birthday present eg a t shirt (normal budget £10-15) but I want to buy something nicer for his 18th (up to around £25).
I find it easy to find things for the girls I know but am struggling with him. He's sporty and going to go to uni next year. I'd like to get something vaguely lasting and meaningful (I've bought jewellery for the girls turning 18).
I definitely don't want to get anything with a key on it or an 18 or anything like that.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Something personalised with his name or initials?

I suppose it depends what he likes but a Swiss Army knife, zippo, pen or leather journal could all be personalised.

A nice edition of a book that is meaningful to him.

Shares in a company he is interested in.

Vouchers for Ikea or similar where he can buy stuff for uni.

A special edition of a board game he enjoys - monopoly for his home town, for example.
