Neighbours parking

Gingerninja01 · 08/11/2019 12:24

Our neighbours literally police our road when it comes to parking. If anyone so much as breathes near their house, they’re outside investigating, have been known to question the owner of the car as to why they have parked near their house as opposed to elsewhere (parking is pretty tight along our road and you can only park on one side), PUT OUT CONES to mark their territory, and on one memorable occasion when the space outside our house was occupied by someone and OH just had to park as near as he could (outside a few doors up), the old guy who lives there actually banged on our door to tell him to move as it was “his” space and if OH didn’t move, he would block our driveway (?!)
Next door have got tree surgeons in and they have completed blocked our drive, apparently under the instructions of next door (who haven’t asked if it’s ok/if we’re going out etc)
AIBU to think our neighbours are complete dicks who have outrageous double standards?

You’re neighbours are being complete dicks with double standards.

FunOnTheBeach20 · 08/11/2019 12:25

*your!

YADNBU to think Your neighbours are complete dicks who have outrageous double standards.

JohnCRaven · 08/11/2019 12:28

Blocking your drive is very discourteous. And if they've self appointed themselves the parking police they should absolutely know better!

Winterdaysarehere · 08/11/2019 12:28

Ask them to move the truck or email the company /shame on fb if they won't..
Change your surname to Boswell and buy your own cones.

TheReluctantCountess · 08/11/2019 12:29

Do you need to go out?

misspiggy19 · 08/11/2019 12:31

I would be knocking on your neighbours door and telling them to get the truck moved. Don’t allow them to get away with this behviour

scrumptiousbears · 08/11/2019 12:42

I would not be bullied by these people. They continue with this unacceptable behaviour because it's a working.

I've experienced this. Neighbour across the road drove into my friend who dared to park outside her house. Then we have a older couple 2 doors down who have a drive for 3 cars at the end of our block but insist on parking outside their house. If you park in this space you get notes on your car. They are all fuck wits.

Alsohuman · 08/11/2019 12:46

Why does parking on your street bother you if you’ve got a drive?

Winesalot · 08/11/2019 12:47

Do they have their own driveway? Do you have a dropped kerb and is it parked over your dropped kerb?

I would ask the neighbour to get the truck moved if they have not allowed you to do the same in the past. If they want to use your dropped kerb, they do need your permission or else you can contact the parking enforcement in your area. but the ticket would then be paid by the contractor who may have thought that the neighbour had asked for permission first.

nervousfirsttimer1985 · 08/11/2019 12:49

Total double standards.

Chloe84 · 08/11/2019 13:39

Why don’t you hi knocking on their door?!

Don’t be so passive!!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/11/2019 13:52

In your position, @Gingerninja01, I would be making the tree surgeons move, even if I didn't want to go out - just to make the point to your neighbours!!

GoKartMozart · 08/11/2019 13:55

There was a guy who lived on the main road near my old GP who used to put cones out. Amusing really as he had one car and a drive big enough for three. He just didn't want anyone parking in front of his house.
Guess where I always parked?

If they are blocking you it's time to go out, then come home, and go out again. Keep shifting them.

fedup21 · 08/11/2019 13:56

Go and see them and ask why they feel it’s ok to block your drive.

Why are you parking in the street if you have a drive?

DidntLikeRugbyAnyway · 08/11/2019 14:21

Tell the tree surgeons to move, who cares what the neighbours told them.

Gingerninja01 · 08/11/2019 15:59

Took the bin out and told one of the tree surgeons I was going out so they’d need to move their wagon.
Another double standard of our neighbours - the constant bonfires. At least twice a week they burn who knows what in their garden for hours at a time because they can’t be arsed to go to the dump like everyone else. They do this in the afternoon. The one and only time we ever had a bonfire, about 7 years ago, we knocked on our immediate neighbours doors to let them know (thinking we were being polite so they knew to keep windows closed etc) and the bonfire fanatics sniffily told us “it was council rules that we could only burn things after 8pm”

Don't engage in this twattery. My scumbag (drug dealer) neighbours tried telling me where i can and cannot park on my road, i did this Hmm at them and continued to park wherever the fuck i like. As a single parent who is disabled and 5"2 tall i generally identify as a 6"2 weight lifting knuckle dragger bloke and act accordingly when faced with twattery. If you face them off and refuse to be bullied they get back in their barrel quick enough.

Thank you! This really made me LOL. So do I! Although I am a bit shorter, and tend to forget I'm short most of the time.
