To re-gift a bunch of flowers?

I've recently gone back to work after mat leave and my sister has just bought me a lovely bunch of flowers. They are as yet uncut as I haven't had time.

It's a colleague's birthday today and I was going to get her a small present (not wine as she doesn't drink, chocolate is a no-go as she's dieting) so thought flowers would be ok.

My partner has left work to become a SAHD so every penny counts now.

WIBU to re-gift the flowers? My sister would never know.

I don't see why not.
When I was in hospital recently I was sent a beautiful bouquet by a youth organisation that I volunteer with. They really were lovely but of course you aren't allowed flowers in hospital wards any more and they would have been dead by the time I was discharged. So I told my DH to cut the card off, get another one and give them to a neighbour who had been helping us with childcare whilst I was ill. There was no chance the original givers would find out and the neighbour loved them. People regift all kinds of other things so why not flowers.

Not at all unreasonable, your sister doesn't have to know, they might have died before she comes around again. Take a photo of the bouquet of flowers for yourself. I hope your colleague likes them, it's a lovely present.

Here are some virtual long life flowers for you: Flowers

It’s fine. And you both get the joy from them

I always do! I get migraines from some flowers so just don't risk it. The person getting them likes them and I still appreciate the thought that went into them as a gift so it is a win win situation!

Fine. My mil works in a school and she got a massive and very expensive bunch of floweres on the last day of term. She was going on holidat the next day so she gave them to me so I could enjoy them as they would have gone to waste sitting in her empty house

I have to do this all the time as people buy us bouquets with lillies in and we have a cat. Our random new neighbours got one a few weeks ago cus none of the neighbours were knew were in and we couldn't bring them in the house 😂
