Because the jobs always seem to be portrayed negatively but DSD is very keen to do a BTec in it.

DD did a BTEC in Travel & Tourism. There was a lot more writing and a lot less practical than we were expecting and the impression they gave.

It wasn't a bad course though and could be a springboard to things like event management or marketing.

I work in the travel industry and love it Smile I came into travel after having DS as a part time job in an agency as I wanted less stress (ha)
Ten years later I’m in a senior ish role and no longer customer facing and I’ve done so much in that time! I’ve worked in sales, marketing, management - I’ve been to some amazing events and seen so much of the world and been paid for it. At entry level the pay is poor but the benefits are great, if she’s ambitious the opportunities are huge.

I think hospitality is a bit different in that the benefits probably don’t make up for the hassle and poor pay.

Thanks, Teens.

DSD is hard working, conscientious and very outgoing. I just hope there are some well paid jobs in that industry.

She wouldn't have to stay in the industry though.
There are a fair number of transferable skills/modules in the T&T BTEC.

I enjoy it - but only because I'm self employed and I'm following my own orders!
