During a pre-op appointment a few days ago, I was asked to have a quick ECG on the way out, and to hand the print-out back to the admin desk so they could pop it on my file.
Having had the ECG, I quickly read the report that was handed to me by the nurse who did the ECG. With previous medical negligence history, I always read my notes etc..even when they are sealed! The report highlighted a couple of abnormalities, and handing the envelope back, the secretary simply slotted it into my file.
I have heard nothing since, and my op is next week. Should this have been reviewed there and then, and if abnormalities are picked up as part of a pre-op review, what would the procedure be? Would they contact the patient or at least the patient's GP? With previous cardiac history, I'm a little apprehensive now, and wondering what..if anything..I should do. If anyone can advise, would really appreciate it!
