To add, in America most females have an annual exam from puberty (depending on state). From what I can gather, she is attending her annual exams (which usually do fall just after your birthday each year) and is then getting info from the gyno. I don't think he's actually just sending her to see if she's still a virgin, I do think it's her annual exam - "women's right of passage" which are so bloody unnecessary anyway, but that's a whole new thread. Americans are so bloody obsessed with annual checks of genitals, why?!!!

Its controlling and emotionally abusive. It is not her choice - he has too much control of her life and she has accepted that and it is an extension of that. She doesn't even realise its controlling

I was horrified on reading this.
Yet 15 year old son was sexually active.

The young woman needs her privacy and it is wrong for this to happen especially as she is 18.

I hope he realises that an intact hymen doesn't = not being sexually active.

I wonder if he'll demand she hang out the post wedding night bloody sheets for all the village to see.

This examination is not needed at any age.

Having a smear test is never nice which is essentially what he’s making her do every year. Also a lot of young people lose their virginity at a young age I did I was 15. He’s trying to map her life out for her rather than trusting her & giving her the opportunity of self control

This is horrific. Both the level of control and privacy invasion he is exercising over his daughter. And his seeming boasting about it, as though there is some value in her being a virgin and that it somehow construes value in him.

@ActualHornist apologies if I have perhaps worded this wrongly. I certainly do not agree with this in anyway. I think I have made a bad comparison to smear tests. By narcissist I mean he’s doing this for his own satisfaction rather than his daughters needs!

No, they check males too. Males even through childhood. It's weird. I'm glad I left. Even to get a visa to live or work in America, the embassy want to check your genitals (regardless of gender before you feel the need to 'correct' me again).
