I'm not feeling well today, and having trouble sleeping.
Whilst laying in bed thinking, I heard a strange noise downstairs. I thought the cat might have brought home a mouse etc so I pop downstairs and have a look. Can't see anything or any sign of cat. Check the back door and the cat flap is open, all the way, stuck open.
So I shut it, and as I turn out the kitchen light the house phone rang!!!
My goodness it scared me - but because no good calls come at night I answered phone. No one there initially, and then i hear a tv with what sounds like a scary film playing in the background.

I've hung up and put the phone handset and base on mute downstairs.

I'm now upstairs writing this message so I don't feel so alone!!!!

Morning all.
Last night I managed to sleep, this morning I've checked the phone (I muted it last night again)
There was an answerphone message at 3:03 which has really upset me and I think the police will definitely have to help now, it was just the sound of gravel crunching as someone walked over it. It was about ten minutes long (pacing?) I know full well this call was meant to terrify me.
1471 (like the first call) simply states:
"We do not have the callers number"
So I'm assuming they're withholding. Can you even withhold a mobile phone number?

I'm going to go to the local station today and walk them through the events so far.

You're doing the right thing!

Shahlalala · 09/11/2019 08:11

Oh OP, I was hoping it would have all stopped.

It doesn’t sound like a random burglar though. Hope it goes well with the police today.

Powerplant · 09/11/2019 08:12

I m so sorry you are going through this it would terrify me. I think it sounds like someone you know or knew as it all sounds so deliberate. Definitely go to the police and your son will be home later so that’s good. I hope they find the spineless b.....d. Good luck and thinking if you 💐

user1497718723 · 09/11/2019 08:17

Yes you can withhold a mobile telephone number. Is your ex likely to want to scare you? Blink cameras on amazon are really good, easy to install and cheap. I hope the police help

spookysamhainwitch · 09/11/2019 08:18

Jesus that dose sound scary. I hope your son can go with you to the police. Definitely make sure you stay somewhere else tonight.

Is it your ex do you think? It's very menacing and threatening behaviour

ferretface · 09/11/2019 08:24

This sounds like a stalker, not a burglar. Not that this is likely to be much consolation but there's probably a smaller pool of people to identify the culprit from. Don't be afraid to tell the police how this is making you feel, that's part of the offence. Let them listen to the answerphone message and record everything, all suspicious occurrences. I would consider getting CCTV as well.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 09/11/2019 08:26

This sounds so frightening.
I wouldn’t think it’s a burglar but possibly your ex. Did you ring his sister ?

WinterRose92 · 09/11/2019 09:06

Oh god, I was hoping that would have been the end of it. So sorry this is happening, must be awful for you.
You’re doing the right thing though, this is obviously deliberate.
It’s nasty, I hope the police find out who it is.
In the meantime, we’re all here for you, OP.

whereareallmyhairbands · 09/11/2019 09:09

Cats home - I cried. I must be very overtired.

OP posts:
sammi0805 · 09/11/2019 09:22

Oh OP so sorry this is happening to you. So glad you are going to the police! Definitely look into those Ring doorbells that send images to your phone as well.

Letstalkabout6 · 09/11/2019 09:22

So sorry to read your updates. Stay strong. I'd ring your telephone provider and tell them you're getting disturbing phone calls. Get them to check for numbers and at least put a listening device on your number. Do you use your home phone a lot? I never use mine so find it odd if you do that somebody would know this. Most people use mobiles rather than phones. Definitely log it with the police as the times seem to be consistent so they can maybe watch your property. Hugs to you.

Lifeisabeach09 · 09/11/2019 09:28

I agree it sounds more than a burglar. Definitely inform the police and contact telephone company as PP have said.
Sorry, OP. You must be exhausted and scared.

Lifeisabeach09 · 09/11/2019 09:29

From BT:
If you're receiving a lot of malicious calls you can call our Nuisance Call Advice Line on 0800 661 441 (8am to 10pm Monday-Friday and 9am to 6pm on a Saturday). Calling features that can help: BT Call Protect - sends nuisance and unwanted calls to a junk voicemail.

SilverOtter · 09/11/2019 09:30

Could you get a motion activated camera for outside (like the ones you can get to watch wildlife)? Put it somewhere discreet but pointing at an area you suspect the stalker has been going.
I really feel for you, this sounds terrifying. I hope your son is going to stay with you for a couple of nights?
Is there anywhere you could go and stay eg family or close friends?Sad

NewStart571 · 09/11/2019 09:35

This is truly chilling OP. Please keep your cat indoors.

The police definitely need to act.

Morporkia · 09/11/2019 09:52

Will your son be staying over after he installs your cameras and lights? Hope you got some positive reaction at the police station. 💐

CoraPirbright · 09/11/2019 09:53

Oh goodness I am so sorry OP - you must be terribly shaken. Hope the police are super helpful. Flowers

AntennaReborn · 09/11/2019 09:56

OP you mentioned your ex, don't dismiss your instincts and make sure you mention him to the police as a possible culprit

boble1 · 09/11/2019 10:14

Goodness, your update has given me goosebumps.

Definitely sounds like a stalker situation.

Hope the police help and take this seriously.

custardbear · 09/11/2019 10:23

OP - keep that beer can it could be evidence and have fingerprints

onthecoins · 09/11/2019 10:27

This is horrible OP Sad.

Pussinboots25 · 09/11/2019 10:30

Oh I could cry for you. Hope you get it sorted today x
