Channel 4 News - overt bias

Watching Channel 4 news at the moment.

They had Grenfell survivors and relatives on to share their views on Rees-Mogg's comments.

Surely we already know what their feelings are?

So what is the point Channel 4 News? Oh yeah, to re-emphasise that Rees-Mogg is a nasty man. He's a Tory, so all Tories are nasty. So vote for someone that's not a member of the Conservative Party. Is this how low they are stooping?

I agree that Grenfell survivors should be silenced and we should hear more from Conservatives.

He didn't even actually say what people are claiming he said.

He said something like if he were in a tower block fire now (after Grenfell) he wouldn't stay in the building, he'd leave.

He wasn't referring to what he would've done at the time, when no-one knew this was much of a risk, and would've followed the 'stay put' policy as told.

I live in a tower block and I wouldn't stay put now after what happened. I'd bloody well run! But if I were them at the time I would've stayed. They were told that was the safest thing.

Stop saying and doing shitty things then the news wont report you saying and doing shitty things

I'm not a Tory, however I don't like spin and lies from either side of an issue, and want to know the truth of what's been said etc.

JRM implied that people who didn't leave lacked common sense. I can see why that upset many.

I guess a subtle part of this is that JRM comes from a class that does as they please not what they are told are their few options.

@interestedwoman you clearly haven't heard the interview. He certainly didn't qualify his statement with anything about hindsight. This is what he said

“I think if either of us were in a fire, whatever the fire brigade said, we would leave the burning building, It just seems the common sense thing to do.”

He was talking to Nick Ferrari. I think it shows how much better he thinks himself and people like him are than people who live in council housing.

Thank the Lord for C4 news because the BBC are government spokespeople and ITV is laughable.

Still nothing beats my colleague not even knowing who the leaders of the main parties are, yet they do know who Corbyn is, don’t think that the Conservatives have damaged anything (looked at me blankly when I talked about what has happened to disabled, poor and working poor people over the past decade), and apparently knows that Labour are the ones that have damaged things. While not in power.

(FWIW I will not be voting Tory or Labour, but in a marginal would vote Labour to keep the Tories out.)

I honestly feel Channel 4 news has become more right wing in the past year or so Not that that’s a bad thing as it’s still my favourite news programme.

Why should C4 News be impartial anyway? It’s not the state broadcaster and you’re free to change channels.

FWIW, I think the Leader of the House of Commons implying that 72 people died in an unimaginably horrible way because they lacked common sense, not because a) their homes were clad in flammable cladding and b) they followed advice from the professionals supposed to help them, is definitely news.
