Who should give

So you are driving along a single track country road at night in the dark and rain in a vehicle with no rear view mirror, just driven around a bend in the road when you see an oncoming car, the oncoming car drives past a passing place on its side at speed with a clear view of you approaching and then stops in front of you and doesn’t move. When you get out and ask the car to reverse back to the said passing place you are told ‘no, you can reverse back to the last passing place’ which is much further back around the bend. Aibu to think the oncoming car should have to give?

I usually wait/reverse even if the other driver should, however in this instance I would have just waited. Recently I was coming towards a passing place, the driver clearly saw me and drove past the passing place. They then did this imperious little wave to wave me back. I put the handbrake on, took the car out of gear and did the same wave back. They reversed.

This happened to me once when I was driving a REMOVAL VAN. The other driver was an elderly lady who- get this- actually pulled a bag of boiled sweets out of her dash and sat there munching them. Could there be a more passive aggressive way of saying “I’m in for the long haul”???

Just thinking about it makes me want to lamp her

YANBU. had this myself recently and the other driver was a total arse about it, ended up kerbing my wheel

we have a little bit of this nonsense round here...slightly wider than single track with iffy verges, I stop, maybe with a wheel on the verge if I am feeling charitable and let them get the hell on with it if they dare.

No way should you have reversed around a corner. Company van or no, I'd have waited for her to reverse.

and in this day and age...photos can be location tagged and she would clearly be in the wrong so assholes to her complaining to work.

No one, they should have pulled into the passing place in the first place instead of being arseholes.
