To ask if you get the RAGE when ovulating?

This is a recent ‘mid life’ thing for me- I am 46 and now, instead of PMT - I get the absolute rage when I am ovulating? Is this a thing? I’m literally wanting to scream at everything & everyone & can’t bear to be around anyone - not even my kids - I feel so awful & guilty but it seems to accentuate my need for personal space. I have also had the cleaning rage this evening.
Anyone else get this? Am quite shocked by how much I could explode. It’s def a recent thing

Yes! I've never heard anyone else refer to this, ever! Mine isn't as strong as yours, but I'm definitely irritable the day I ovulate - I had no idea before we started TTC for our first child, but once I was paying attention it was a really obvious pattern. I don't, on the other hand, get any pre-period/during period moodiness.

GingerLemonTea · 04/11/2019 20:56

Google PMDD

makingmammaries · 04/11/2019 20:58

Yes. But unfortunately I don’t get the cleaning rage.

motueka03 · 04/11/2019 20:59

Is it something that you can develop as your hormones change in mid life? I wasn’t like this before!

Ladybirdman · 04/11/2019 21:00

Yes! Me too (I am 47) only it does pass after two or three days and then I swell up like a balloon where I stay until my period arrives when I deflate and manage to look and act normally for two whole weeks!

Can't wait til this being held hostage to hormones is all over Hmm

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/11/2019 21:01

Yep and I get worse pmt symptoms and food cravings at ovulation now as well. I basically get about 5 days a month when I'm not due on, on, or ovulating

GuessWhoColeen · 04/11/2019 21:03

I put all mine on my calender every month.

I get 3 nights of insomnia before my period. Well, I sleep 10-12, awake til 4, then sleep til 6.

The night before my period I sleep 12 hours.

I get extreme fatigue 2 days before. I cannot move.

I get the rage mid cycle.

Im the same age!

Oh and more recently debilitating headaches.

Oh and flu symptoms EVERY month for 2 days including a sore throat & aching.

I get clumsy.

My back gives way.

I will stop now Confused

motueka03 · 04/11/2019 21:06

@Ladybirdman yes, I am the same. I only feel ‘normal’ for about a week of the month!

@thenewaveragebear1983 exactly the same- about a week where I feel sane & ok

Me too, I'm 44 and the last 6 months have been horrendous. I'm just waiting for blood results to come back to see if I'm menopausal.
I have to take myself away from everyone to have a time out! ☹

cheesydoesit · 04/11/2019 21:07

Yes!!! I have googled it and there are a few mentions but nothing too in depth. After having my 2 DC I am more aware of physical and hormonal effects of ovulation. It took me a while to cotton on but bloody hell, the rage I feel is horrible. I'm mid thirties and older colleagues have told me how wonderful it is post menopause for them to not be held hostage by hormones or give a fuck of what people think of them.

I'm thinking of taking vitamin b or something. Every month I vow to do something about it but I don't feel like I would be taken seriously if I went to a GP. Probably just put me on antidepressants.

Glad I'm not the only one though, (although it's rubbish we all suffer) there should definitely be some recognition surrounding it.

motueka03 · 04/11/2019 21:07

@GuessWhoColeen I might start tracking my symptoms more. I track my cycle but not what happens emotionally. I get insomnia around ovulation plus a lot of heart palps and I feel a bit ‘hyper’ and jittery - it’s really weird

motueka03 · 04/11/2019 21:09

@spongebunnyfatpants yes, I have to take myself away too as get so cross & upset the kids Sad

@cheesydoesit my doc has been SO crap - asked if I needed CBT and was very dismissive Confused

GuessWhoColeen · 04/11/2019 21:10

God I forgot the anxiety.

I could be in the park, see someone from School and literally want to scream. I turn around and hope they dont see me. I cant deal with conversation.

Luckily that lasts about 1 day. If its my day off, I hit the supermarket at 09.00 then go home and hide Blush

MayFayner · 04/11/2019 21:11

Yes- I’m 43 and I get the fury from about day 12 onwards. I have a short cycle so that would be about right.

I recently caved and went back on the pill because I can’t afford a divorce.

(Only half joking)

GuessWhoColeen · 04/11/2019 21:12

I got stress relief from Tesco that helps and valerian tea, that I take for a few days. I hate it I really want it to end. It could be years.

cheesydoesit · 04/11/2019 21:16

It's awful isn't it? There have been some months where I feel as though I am actually going insane. It's horrible. I hate being such a terrible person to be around and I really have to rein my temper in.

The only comfort is now knowing that it's not really 'me' and I just try to wait it out. Fucking horrible. I'm sorry your GP is no use OP.

GingerLemonTea · 04/11/2019 22:09

I use the Clue app to track. It really helps to show a pattern.

Designerenvy · 04/11/2019 22:37

Gingerlemon , I'm going to try that app.
I have one week a month I feel normal. Then ovulation kicks in., I'm.sore cross , bloated, then PMS kicks and I'm.a psycho, then period time and it's so heavy, lasts a full week and im an emotional wreck and exhausted and in pain.
Hate it !
I'm 46 .....must be a 40s thing. I'm regular as clock work so I don't think im even menopausal Confused

Designerenvy · 04/11/2019 22:41

I also find I don't want to meet / see people sometimes cos my moods so bad, then I make myself and I just feel I'm bad company!
And yes, the clumsiness is horrible too, dropping everything, forgetful..... men have it so easy!
