To find DP patronising about Mn

Hibbsy · 04/11/2019 20:33

Long time lurker here, current sat watching Only Connect with DP as kids in bed, both on respective iPads. Hear him giggling and ask “what is funny?”, he says “nothing”. Giggles again and ask again, he says he’s on a forum he’s a member of (football 355 or something, I’ve never really asked) and there’s a thread on MN where they basically take the piss out of posts on here and he’s laughing at a post where someone here is upset about being though of as a lesbian from asking a friend to spend the night in comfies watching tv.
I thought this was a harmless forum where they talked about football and had no issues but apparently it’s more than that and the MN threat has over 10000 posts mainly taking the piss out of people on here, along with “blokes” threads about women. On one they even ask them to rate women as “minx or minger”
I’m was happy he has his own place online but feel now that it’s simply pandering to sexist misogynist behaviour. AIBU to think we can’t even have this place to ourselves without men using it as a source of entertainment to reinforce the idea of the “stupid little woman indoors”?

OP posts:
Shoxfordian · 06/11/2019 14:36

Stern words? Wow. That'll stop him Hmm

Don't date misogynists op

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 06/11/2019 14:42

Will be having stern words with DP tonight and making sure he unsubscribes from this immediately and doesn’t visit again.

Are you his partner or his mother?

Hibbsy · 06/11/2019 15:01

Not sure what you mean by that comment, I will tell him I am not happy and I don’t want him going on it and if he knows what’s good for him he’ll agree.

OP posts:
WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 06/11/2019 15:06

If he is the kind of man that needs "telling" not to get involved in such revolting misogyny he's an absolute prick, sorry.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 06/11/2019 15:08

Actually I'm not sorry, he is a prick to find reading/joining in with shit like that an enjoyable pastime. Seriously, is this the role model you want for your DC?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 06/11/2019 15:08

I will tell him I am not happy and I don’t want him going on it and if he knows what’s good for him he’ll agree.

And if he doesn't agree?

Hibbsy · 06/11/2019 15:16

He will

OP posts:
Shoxfordian · 06/11/2019 15:25

So would you actually leave him if he carried on looking at the website?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 06/11/2019 15:27

Is he really that wet? How attractive...

StreetwiseHercules · 06/11/2019 15:30

And you wonder why people laugh at the people who post here. What an embarrassment.

Bunson · 06/11/2019 15:32

I think Hibbsy is just hamfistedly shit stirring

NotACleverName · 06/11/2019 15:32

If you can't take it, don't dish it out. You're part of a site that regularly pulls people apart.

Exactly. I remember a recent-ish thread where the OP was whinging about how Tattle should be banned, completely oblivious to the fact that MN is just as bad.

And if someone told me I couldn’t use a site for whatever reason, they’d be told to get to fuck in no uncertain terms.

wildcherries · 06/11/2019 15:36

I mean, I don't agree with that forum. But I'd be so incredibly angry with a partner who unlocked my personal iPad with my thumb while I slept. Absolutely no moral high ground after that.

NotNowMoley · 06/11/2019 15:42

I think Hibbsy is just hamfistedly shit stirring
Absolutely, there's zero chance this is a genuine thread.

Usernumbers1234 · 06/11/2019 15:47

“Unlocked iPad with his thumb”

Of course you did my dear.......

hellsbellsmelons · 06/11/2019 15:48

I can’t look at him without seeing a fat middle aged bloke who panders to all our stereotypes
Yep - they can profess as much as they like about agreeing with feminism etc... but the vast majority just don't.
And the vast majority are like this.

Usernumbers1234 · 06/11/2019 15:58

@hellsbells

Except this one doesn’t actually exist.

Unless you truly believe secret squirrel up there is using sleeping men’s thumbprints to unlock iPads, in which case you believe anything, so ho hum

JacksonPillock · 06/11/2019 15:59

Unlocked iPad with his thumb

Haha, I actually thought this was probably genuine until this bit!

OP, didn't your forum mod warn you against "invading" the forum! tut tut!

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 06/11/2019 16:06

Actually I do believe someone could unlock my phone with my thumb, I sleep really heavily.

Usernumbers1234 · 06/11/2019 16:19

It’s not impossible webuilt.

But it’s also infinitely worse than being a member of a forum full of dicks.

Hopefully imaginary husband up there “has a stern word” about her invading his privacy.

Oh, and in the deeply unlikely event OP (and 53 for that matter) are genuine, then OPs husband will be getting all the updates on this thread in the Mumsnet one over on F365, so he’s already seen her confessing to using his sleeping thumb

If this thread wasn’t a load of made up crap that might be a concern

ConFusion360 · 06/11/2019 16:24

I've just noticed that my mum has started using Darling Husband, dear daughter, number 1 son (that's me Smile)..... She's one of Them Shock

That made me laugh.

53rdWay · 06/11/2019 16:31

in the deeply unlikely event OP (and 53 for that matter) are genuine

no, you busted me, well done you for seeing through my OBVIOUSLY FRAUDULENT pretence that I think it's a bit shit for men to lurk on Mumsnet specifically to gossip about what all the women are saying. Nobody could genuinely hold such a belief. I can't possibly be real.

CravingCheese · 06/11/2019 17:01

DP had fallen asleep so I unlocked his iPad with his thumb) and I’m appalled

Are you out of your mind?
I sleep like the dead (perfectly possible for DH to do this to me. Well, if you could unlock my iPad or phone via a thumb print. And if he didn't have password to my private one anyway.) and I'd be fucking livid if he did!!

Simply ask him to show you the forum. If he refuses you have your answer. If he shows you the forum you'd have your answer as well.

You don't respect his privacy. He doesn't respect women. Match made in heaven I guess.

Mitel1 · 06/11/2019 17:03

Christ on a bike. Is this for real?
Let the men have their fun. Dictating what he can read online - really?!
It's just boys being boys. If they want to judge my arse and rate it out of 10, then they can. It really doesn't harm anyone.
It is genuinely far more worrying that someone would log into their other halves accounts and monitor what they look at, in order to tell them off. I feel sorry for the husband.
If he works hard to put a roof over your head and put food on the table, then I think he should be allowed to read a football forum if he wants to. Its hardly a war crime.
Don't take it all so seriously and leave him be. You seem like very hard work to be honest.

NewStart571 · 06/11/2019 19:56

This is the thread that keeps on giving.

Mitel’s post is a particular highlight.
