Do I make the chilli?

This is fairly light hearted - but I’m still a bit cross about it! Long story short, we invited a few friends round next Wednesday. I issued the invite (via Facebook) and said for drinks and nibbles. DH later said he’d like chilli. I said no, I’m doing nibbles. He then saw one of the friends we have invited and said we were doing chilli! Said friend is now looking forward to it.
To be honest, making the chilli is less work than the bits I was going to do but it’s the principle. My best mate suggested making the chilli, dishing up in the kitchen and adding a few extra chilli flakes to DH’s but she is evil like that!
So should I make the chilli???

Don't be daft.

If your husband wants chilli, he can make it can't he Confused

If I make the chilli it will be all done in the slow cooker and cleared up in minutes.
If DH makes the chilli he will use every pot and pan we possess and make a huge mess.

Well then it’ll take him a while to clean up, won’t it Confused

Jollitwiglet · 03/11/2019 20:26

Well he can make it then clear up the huge mess he makes. Problem solved

5 minutes work instead of a couple of hrs doing picky bits. I know whast I would do tbh and I would take all the compliments as well.

So let him get on with it.

It's not like you have to clear up after him is it? Confused

I’d opt for the easier option personally! If making the chilli is easier than what you were going to do then why not, since people prefer it. I get the principle and it’s cheeky of DH but I wouldn’t lose sleep over it...

If he wants to cook AND clean up let him crack on.

Grannybags · 03/11/2019 20:31

To be honest, I could have come round to the idea of doing the chilli if he’d said it was to make life easier for me but it was just the sneaky way he went about it! Am tempted to make a stew or bolognaise instead just to be petty!

I’d also get him to cook it unless he’s going to do a shit job.

Not life easier for the pair of you?

Stop falling for this crap OP.

If he wants chilli, he's an adult who can cook it and clean up after himself.

If he's not willing to do that, then stick to your original idea.

LuckyAmy1986 · 03/11/2019 20:38

Personally I wouldn’t make the chilli because I wouldn’t want to be seen by my DH as a walkover, but then he wouldn’t do this anyway
