AIBU to think my DP does absolutely nothing around the house?!

I’ve been ill for a few weeks now (had flu, followed my a chest infection and a horrific cough) and today is the first time I’ve made it out of bed and made an effort to get dressed etc and I’m shocked at what a bomb site the house is.

Nothing has been cleaned since I became ill and the kitchen is filthy. Pots etc have been kept on top of but I don’t think the sides or hob have been wiped at all and there are pieces of dry food all over. Looks like a bomb has gone off in the living room with sweet wrappers, mugs, plates, crumbs etc etc.
I’m absolutely furious that my DP has clearly been sat on his arse doing nothing all weekend while I’ve been in bed. My work clothes from 10 days ago haven’t even been washed yet, they are still sat in the wash basket!! AIBU to think just this only maybe I wouldn’t have to do all the cleaning??

Why do have such low standards in your relationship that you even have to ask this question?

BackwardsGoing · 03/11/2019 16:57

Why are you with him?

Pussinboots25 · 03/11/2019 16:58

@BackwardsGoing because I realised 45 minutes ago how lazy he is when I saw the mess. Sorry I forgot I should have his bags packed and out the door already Hmm

You are worth more than being a mans maid, whilst you work out how to motivate this man child or to leave, consider that if he doesn’t want to contribute to domestic work, that is fine, leave him in his shit. Separate your washing and cooking and DO NOT be a door mat.

Jollitwiglet · 03/11/2019 16:59

Do you normally do it all?

BackwardsGoing · 03/11/2019 17:00

Sorry OP not having a go. But if he's this lazy when you're sick I assumed he does no domestic chores generally. Or was this a one off?

Pussinboots25 · 03/11/2019 17:02

@jollitwiglet Not really we are pretty even usually, but I’m thinking maybe because I’m bed bound he thought he could get away with being lazy.

@BackwardsGoing He’s normally pretty good! But that is with me breathing down his neck Grin He probably thought he could have a couple of weeks off without getting winged at...

What did he say when you asked him why the fuck he couldn't even clean up after himself while you weren't there?

Pussinboots25 · 03/11/2019 17:52

@GettingABitDesperateNow he didn’t say much but got a bit defensive saying I was being dramatic. I went for a bath and heard the hoover turn on Grin
