Fitbit acquired by Google

I have just received a notification that Fitbit has been acquired by Google. I feel really uncomfortable about how much information this mega company already holds in relation to us mere mortals, but for them now to have the facility to hold information about where I am, how far I walk, what my sleep patterns are, how much I weigh etc etc is a step too far for me.

AIBU to be really fed up about this?

No. I despise this kind of consolidation. It's bad for everyone except big business.

@FallenMadonnawiththeBadBoobies

If you use Facebook (does anyone these days?), they'll have all that and your inside leg measurement.

Yes, I agree, Entrophy.

Phil, I use Facebook only to look at a couple of specific health issue sites and then, (for work reasons), I use a false name.

I'm far from being a conspiracy theorist, but it makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Google is a nightmare. A fucking nightmare. I'm glad you started this thread.

Looks like we are the only ones who are concerned!

I love my fitbit but I feel concerned about this too. Not because I have anything to hide but it's all that personal information. My heart sank a bit when I heard the news, without really knowing why.

I knew this would happen.

Now, all the data will be sold to insurance companies, and policies will change accordingly.
