I have 2 jobs, both are customer facing. I work in a independent cafe/shop, and then in a Chinese restaurant.

Last week I was at work in the shop, it was really quiet. I had one customer who was really friendly and started conversation, I just chatted back. He told me he was new to the area so I asked him what brought him to X town. Then the conversation took a nasty turn and he started to get quite heated, saying that 'they' ruined his village & went on to tell me that Chinese people 'are dirty'. I was disgusted and taken aback, the conversation ended promptly.

Guess who should have the audacity to turn up for a Chinese takeaway this week.

I don't even know what my AIBU is really, I just feel quite horrified.

He is obviously a horrible person. I wouldn't say anything to him OP , just in case he gets abusive toward you , take care.

Did you remind him in a very obvious way what he said?

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 01/11/2019 20:55

Did he recognise you?

It was a busy night & I wasn't serving him, so I didn't say anything. I hope he saw me and felt embarrassed though.
