Have just today moved and am in the process of unpacking, finding “homes for all of my belongings and bewailing the fact that the oven isn’t quite as nice as my last one.

Trying to be in the start as you mean to go on mentality and it doesn’t feel like “home” just yet

So Aibu to ask what tips or traditions you have when moving into a new home?

Line the drawers with that stuff from Ikea

Everything and I mean everything should have a home

Use this opportunity to again assess whether you need to keep it

Ooh am off the ikea in the morning - so grab the drawer lining stuff!

Everything having a home is my top priority, I always find that’s where we go wrong

Am asking trying to be more thoughtful about where we put stuff - for example cups near the kettle

One tip I got from Marie kondo is when finding homes for things, think about making them easy to put away rather than easy to get out. You'll usually go to a bit of effort to find something you want whereas if it's difficult to put something away you usually won't bother to do it properly. So have a home that is near the place you finish using something and easily accessible.
