To not want my DH to know my web history.

Using the family iPad a couple of days ago and realised that it must be in synch with my iPhone . Under the history we’re all the websites etc. that I’d been using , including all the MN threads I’d been following / commenting on. Now I don’t go on any dodgy websites but even so I hate the thought that my DH can see this . I have no idea how to “ disconnect “ the devices either ... not very tech- savvy. My DH thinks I’m being a bit “ odd” about this. Am I ? And does anyone know how to disconnect the items ( need very simple instructions !)

I ask stupid questions on google daily and would rather people didn’t see them too 🤣

Use incognito?

Topseyt · 31/10/2019 13:53

Ctrl+shift+n (I think) allows incognito browsing.

Other than that, I don't know. Go incognito and Google how to disconnect them.

You just need to sign out of Google/chrome on the family iPad

AliceLittle · 31/10/2019 14:10

DH and I have separate logins for each device we share (laptop/pc/tablet) and the browsers we use delete cookies/history at the end of every session.

If you click on the little book on the right of the search bar It will bring up a list of all sites you’ve been on, at the bottom it will say clear, click on clear all time, the click on the book again and it will disappear having deleted everything.
I could take credit for this, but my 12 year old showed me last week haha

Pharlapwasthebest · 31/10/2019 14:14

left of the search bar it should say

Me too....If anyone looked at my history they would be searching for bodies....

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 31/10/2019 14:29

I am with you op.
I was reading an article about someone missing in the woods and decided to google how long it takes a body to decompose. Which turned in for searches about how a body can stay hidden in the woods without dogs finding the smell etc.
I though if I was a suspect in a missing person case I’d be fucked. No detective it’s just a coincidence, I was just curious about how to hide a dead body!!!

The most straightforward solution is for you to create a separate Apple ID specifically for the shared iPad. I'm not sure if this will be a positive or negative for you, but doing so will also disable the automatic synchonisation of iMessages, emails, calendar entries, contacts, photos, voice recordings, notes, and videos between the two devices.

If that's not what you're looking for, the next best solution is to download another browser from the App Store, say, Chome or Firefox, and use that for any internet related things you'd prefer stay private.

Also...
Install DuckDuckGo

I have duckduckgo and it is more difficult for google, along with all the targeted ads, to follow me around. I've also signed out of google on my phone. I too have nothing to hide but neither do I want everyone to see the crap that I view or read online.
