I posted a few months ago about a couple of CF houseguests and got told I was BU to myself for letting them get away with being CFs.

She's a longish term friend and he's her idiot, manchild of a partner. They were meant to be staying again this weekend and arrived about 20 minutes ago. He walked in and swert his hand over the sofa, checking for cat hairs because last time he was here, the poor darling got hair on his coat and had to brush it down.

I reminded him it's MY flat and the cat lives here. Added that I will not stop the cat sleeping on the sofa if he wants to and that if I can deal with the resulting hairs every day, he can cope for 2 days. Also suggested that if he wants cat-free lodgings, the town is full of hotels and B&Bs where there will be no cat hair but no free lodgings or breakfast either.

They've gone in search of a hotel room. And it's gonna fucking cost them because there's a goth event going on up the road in Whitby and nearly every bed between here and there will be booked.

Go, me!

I remember the previous thread. I hope they get the message and leave.

If not, then this time I would be having an even stricter conversation with friend, that her dp was not welcome to come again under any circumstances.

Beautiful3 · 31/10/2019 14:24

I remember your last post. Well done op. Good for you. He is a cheeky sod, isn't he?!

AngusThermopyle · 31/10/2019 14:26

I remember your thread op. Haha, well done.

Troels · 31/10/2019 14:52

Well done scarbados. I hope everywhere is full and they go home. I wouldn't let him back even if he crawled.

aweedropofsancerre · 31/10/2019 15:59

I remember your last thread too. Shocking that your friends partner still behaved like you were running a guest house. Looking forward to hearing if the try and return of the places are fully booked

Groovee · 31/10/2019 16:01

I remember your previous thread.

Do you think they will return with their tails between their legs looking for a bed?

nonevernotever · 31/10/2019 16:05

I too remember your previous thread - go you!

CalmdownJanet · 31/10/2019 16:31

I remember your thread too, well done op

IsAStormApproaching · 31/10/2019 16:42

They'll no doubt be back when they can't find anywhere else to stay.

Whiskeylover45 · 31/10/2019 16:58

Can anyone post a link to the last thread? I've searched, but nothing is coming up

Motoko · 31/10/2019 18:29

I remember it too, but I wouldn't have let them come back, even with her "having a word". It obviously didn't work.

What are you going to do when they come back, because they can't find anywhere else to stay? Finding accommodation during the Whitby Goth Weekend will be like looking for hen's teeth. People book months in advance for that, because everywhere fills up so quickly.

bakesalesally · 31/10/2019 19:27

I remember your thread! Good for you.

I hope your friend is dying on the inside. I'd go spare if my DH did that!

Wizzbangpop · 31/10/2019 19:56

I remember you're last thread
Go you and you're cat

OdddSocks · 31/10/2019 20:03

I read your last thread too and remember being extremely taken aback that people can be SO RUDE re other peoples homes and everything in it!
A big well done to you from me OP.

I've just been to Whitby today!!....my favourite place in the world. Then drove home over the moors and am now sat with a cuppa and some chocolate!

If their room is free, Iet me stay, I'll bring you choccy and let the cat sit n purr on my lap all night! Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 31/10/2019 20:08

I can’t believe he’s back! Well done for putting him straight right away.

Butterymuffin · 31/10/2019 20:15

Time to switch your phone to silent, put your PJs on and start watching a box set wearing headphones I think Grin

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 31/10/2019 21:28

Go you! I remember your previous thread and am so glad to hear you were able to be assertive from the start this time. Well done.

Sexnotgender · 31/10/2019 21:35

I remember your last thread, can’t believe you let them back!

gamerchick · 31/10/2019 21:48

Well, did they come back when they couldn't find anywhere to stay?

scarbados · 01/11/2019 09:23

@OdddSocks next time you're visiting Whitby, let me know and we could have a deal!

To everyone asking - yes, they came back because they couldn't find a decent room anywhere. But they came with apologies and gifts and the offer of taking us for a meal (and paying for it!) at any restaurant we chose and could get a table at. So we went to the Turkish one I've wanted to go to since we moved here. Still cost them less than a hotel would have done but it's not the price, it's the moral victory that counts!

So they're still here but going up to Whitby in a couple of hours and won't be back until quite late tonight. And in the meantime, I've got a bottle of prosecco, 2 beautiful wine goblets and a box of chocolates as an apology.

But the best news - I've recently rediscovered my old goth self and DH and I have already booked a hotel in Whitby for the same event next year so we won't be available to guests in Scarborough for that weekend. Halloween Smile

Witchinaditch · 01/11/2019 10:00

Whitby is lush! Lucky you living there. Yes I agree it’s a moral victory

Motoko · 01/11/2019 11:34

I'm glad they're making up for their rudeness this tie, but don't let them stay again.

I've always wanted to go to WGW, even had tickets 20 years ago, but I had to move house on the same weekend, so had to sell them. Sad

Motoko · 01/11/2019 11:34

*time, not tie.
