To want c section now

Been having contractions since last night. C section booked for Friday morning. My other 2 DC were EMCS and I was advised that I should go for an elective c-section this time due to risk of uterine rupture. Historically my contractions get v intense, but dilation is slow and baby gets into difficulty. I don't want to be in pain for another 40 hours!

Do delivery suite know you're having contractions? Surely they would have called you in, if so?

Nanmumandmidwife · 30/10/2019 18:06

Are you at the hospital? If not you need to ring and tell them that you are contracting.

Had a pre op appointment this morning so told them I'd been having contractions and asked them to check me out whilst I was there. Baby's movements are fine so they weren't worried and told me to go home and rest and come back on Friday unless waters break...I can't rest as contractions hurt to buggery.

contractions hurt to buggery

Call them now and say that you're worried because your contractions are strong.

ThreeLittleDots · 30/10/2019 18:14

unless waters break

Some people's waters don't break until close to delivery / at delivery so ignore that advice!!

Gileadisreal · 30/10/2019 18:14

How far apart are your contractions?

Nanmumandmidwife · 30/10/2019 18:18

@nearlyfullycooked. You need to ring and tell them or go in for another assessment. If labour is progressing you do NOT wait for waters to break and you should be being monitored. The advice you have been given is incorrect. Having had an EMCS there is always the chance of the scar breaking down. Please contact them now.

Have a lovely baby OP! Hope you're on your way to hospital x

Go to the hospital! I was in labour with dd2 for 6 days after a EMC 3 years prior. Ended up having another as wasnt monitored properly x

Contractions varying in intensity and time - sometimes 15/20 mins apart, sometimes 3 mins. DP has dropped DC off at my dad's and we are on way to Triage.

Hope you get seen quickly, good luck

My friend recently gave birth. Her contractionss were 15-30 mins apart all day for nearly 14 hours. Suddenly they became 1-2 mins apart and she had her baby in 20 mins.
Glad you are going to the hospital! Good luck OP :)

Differentcorner · 30/10/2019 21:55
